It has been reported that the face of the bid, Amanda Staveley, was part of a bid to buy Liverpool from FSG but they did not want to sell. Then she knew Benitez while he was manager of Newcastle. She has been trying to buy them ever since and earmarked Benitez as their top choice to the Saudis. They plan to invest an undisclosed amount to improve the infrastructure and team so potentially will be a new rival for the 4 CL spots.
