And Stones would have been gone...or maybe just maybe breaking through. Plus we wouldn't have signed Rom, Del, and God knows if Barkley would be seeing time.

We'd probably have scraped 6th or 7th in the league or something awful like that too.

Thank goodness those days are behind us.

He'd never have signed a 24 year old centre back. I think Lescott and Jagielka were early 30s when they signed from memory.

Jags was 25 but was used as a defensive midfielder at the time IIRC.

Lescott was actually 24, but was played as left back or on the bench lol

I like this lad, I feared the worst when Martinez delved into the SA market for a CB, but I can see what he saw in this fella.

He's composed, good in the air, attacks the ball well, reads the game well and intercepts plenty when high up the pitch, plus he can play a bit to boot. It's obvious he has a real winners attitude as well, very competitive and seems to have fitted into the team btillaintly

Vickery: let's face it, and as was pointed out by many on here, Funes Mori was an establishd River Plate player and Argentina international, and a Copa Libertadores winner. But that tool thought he knew more than his managers.

File under 'clueless hack'.

His reputation (such as it was) now in tatters.

I like how he kind of admits he was wrong, but then has to drag up Martinez' previous signing mistake at Wigan, as if to justify his original Mori opinion.

He couldn't just say he wrong and leave it at that.
