Very sad news and not even that old.
Even though he was getting on a bit when he signed for Spurs for the 5 or 6 years he was with us I was surprised at how unspectacularly good he was, the total opposite to his rival Shilton.
I was at his first game back at Anfield and I
still remember they great reception they gave him.

Great keeper should've had well over a 100 caps except the then England managers kept picking the far inferior Shilton for some reason.

Believe that Shankly didn't like left handed keepers, so the scout lied to him & the rest is history.

Seemed to be a humble bloke who kept his mouth shut. Something that a number of his team mates failed to copy.

Sad news great keeper if Clemence never had Shilton as a rival, or visa versa, scary to think how many England caps they would have had each.

Always baffled me how Shilton ended up with twice as many caps as Clemence. World class keeper even if he did play for them.

They both were tbf. Just that none of the managers at the time had the bottle to choose one as first choice.
