I will turbo-fume if we don't send out a serious XI. One or two changes I can accept, resting Barry etc but if he starts the likes of Leandro, Osman or Gibson then we deserve to go out.

Show the competition, and Reading, some respect and we could very well go on to win it.

Reading can 'koff, they're showing us no respect with their weakened team.

....puts it all into perspective.

I've changed my mind. I think starting Gibson and Osman together is too much of a risk so Naismith should stay in the team:

Would like 2 up front to to tonight. None of this defensive crap in a cup game!

Would send out a full strength squad myself but expect something like this -

where's everyone getting these fancy dan formation sites from?

i reckon @chicoazul should incorporate them into his next preview .... of yeah, he's banned haha

---------robles
---jags stones mori
lennon-------------oviedo
----------mccarthy
----deulofeu-------osman
------lukaku---rodriguez

datz rite

deffo wanna see Mori, Lennon and Deulofeu from the start. Would like to keep Jags and Barry's legs fresh by resting them. Expect Robles will start. Strong team otherwise.

much easier on the players to start strong and ideally have the game sown up by half time/60 mins. Then the likes of barkley, rom, mccarthy can get a breather and the players can go into cruise mode.

dont wanna repeat the barnsley game and have to go into ET again.

No europe this year, should take every game seriously, especially as it's early season and our next game is in 6 days. no real need to rest players unless they have a niggle

Play Barkley deep alongside McCarthy (I'd said Gibbo originally but he probably should be introduced later on). Get Naismith in the second-striker role and play Lennon and Del on the wings. Rom up top. Reading will be tough to break down and they're very good on the counter attack. They have a lot of pace in that squad.

No Prem game for another six days anyway. Rest Barry and possibly Stones, and don't risk Coleman or Besic. Other than that, a strong squad.

Howard
Browning - Jags - Mori - Oviedo (if fit)
McCarthy - Barkley
Lennon - Naismith - Deulofeu
Lukaku

Would be a good mix, rests the legs that could do with a rest, not overly sure about deulofeu from the left but we are seriously short on options for that side so would be worth a try against a weaker opposition.

Howard

Browning, Jagielka, Stones, Galloway

Gibson, McCarthy,

Deulofeu, Naismith, Osman

Lukaku

We can't afford too many changes, just get the game won and move on. I think it's imperative we play our strongest back-line available and that's the same 4 we played against Swansea. I know lots of people would like to see Mori starting to see what he can do but that is definitely something I think Martinez should refrain from doing. These lower league sides, spurred on by the pumped up crowd, always come at Premier League teams like us all guns blazing for the first 30 minutes and if they get a goal it only spurs them on more. We can't afford for Mori to be thrown in and for his arse to go and end up making silly mistakes. In these types of games it's vital you don't concede soft goals early and end up having to chase the game with a half-strength team, the Barnsley game being the most recent example (I'm sure we could all name dozens of other times during our rotten history in this competition).

It's something we always seem to do in cups, we play away against a team we should be beating but end up being a total shambles defensively and get ourselves knocked out. Please God not tonight, not when so many other PL teams are going to go out in this round. Just keep it professional and get it done, if we're 2 or 3 nil up then feel free to give some players need match-fitness some minutes then.

Leeds United - Junior.
