All fair. I think weve done well for 60 points. If we get 50 it will be a bit underwhelming, but after last seasons hes probably earned a bit of time.

Think we need some extra support with more players to achieve Europe...

Injuries, suspensions & the rotation of players due to resting etc, we still seem short of quality hope we see 2/3 players coming in during the Jan transfer window then 60 points will definately be achievable...

Don't forget about our inadequate attack...

Here is the thing though...

3/4 wins on the bounce can give you such a lift & change the perspective also...

We need to hang on in until January when we can bring in 2/3 reinforcements during the transfer window & kick on from there, our season is far from over yet...
When was the last time we signed 2 players in a January window that improved us?

I don't want Everton to fail, I am moaning because I want to see Everton be competitive, a wining side and win some silverware - before I die even, my bedroom in Ireland which I have left since about 2010 has posters on the wall.....................dating to 1995 - there were some real characters in the FA cup winning team, absent from Everton teams since probably Davy Moyes time when we had Cahill, Gravesen and Carsley - they would not let Leeds run amok at Goodison, not on their watch

Don't know about that, two of those three played when we got beat by Shrewsbury.

Totally get what you are saying but that team is not a great example as they got beat by loads of crap teams over the years.

matty you were one of the only people defending Silva to the hilt last year when it was beyond painfully obvious what he was. you had your head in the sand so far you couldn't see daylight because you wanted "stability" you backed a losing horse after it pulled up lame.

This is Carlo Ancelotti, this isn't some absolute no-mark like Silva or Koeman. We should be doing SIGNIFICANTLY better than what we are, you have to blinkered to be saying this is acceptable.

and we will

The whole club needs a massive injection of positivity from top to bottom. We fans have gotten so used to not winning silverware it's actually become some sort of invisible black shroud we all seem to wear. First thing we need to do is to focus on putting a trophy or 2 in the cabinet. That creates a feel-good factor & stimulates a higher expectation from the fans which in turn works it's way down to the players. So anyone joining the blues knows they're not there for a free ride. We saw at United when they won the FA Cup in 1990 how a big club with a good manager can turn things around given time, a fair bit of luck, & winning a trophy to bring everyone together.

Have to place down what the expectations are.

We're not getting near City, RS, Chelsea, Spurs, Leicester.

The goal should be to be in the mix with Wolves, Arsenal, United.

Bonus should be cup runs and hopefully at least to give the top teams a run for their money

In terms of reality check watching the Chelsea v spurs game gives a great context.

Chelsea have brought on from the bench Giroud, Pulisic and Havertz. We are miles away squadwise, it will take time and windows before we can compete with the '6' and that is no-one's fault it is just where we are.

The reality is that the very mismanagement which got Everton into this mess under Walsh and Koeman has continued unabated.

Why is a club whose right-back has been crocked for three years, and whose reserve full-backs are not considered usable by the manager, spending upwards of £20m on a sixth centre-half?

Moshiri has been taken for a ride, and so have we.

In the next few weeks, I expect a top four or five to break away a bit just as a bottom four or five have been left behind. It feels like the remaining ten or so will be taking points off each other all season long. As such, I'm certainly not investing any of my hopes in a top 7 finish. Would be great to get, but it's not as simple as it has been in the past where we're generally best of the rest. And anyway, the three games that could win us the League Cup are much more important.
