Reasons for optimism...

The majority of the fanbase predicted this would be a season to endure, another - and as much as I dislike the phrase - transitional season.

Years of piss poor management by a failing board has left us with a unbalanced, and to be blunt - an unlikeable Everton team. A team that looked to down tools on even Carlo Ancelotti with form falling off a cliff the second half of last season.

Ancelotti bailing and Moshiri/board going for Benitez always dictated this to be a season of angst. The perfect man for a team of cowards to hide behind.

As bad as this season has been, I there are some valid reasons for optimism.

This season we've let go of wasters or big earners like Bolasie, Walcott, Bernard, Kean, Digne, Rodriguez,

This summer we lose more wasters or big earners with Tosun, Sigurdsson, Kenny, Delph out of contract.

You don't need to be a football finance bore to realise just how important losing that deadweight is, as FFP resets for us.

10th, or 17th. Sure, there's prize money, pride and not to mention blood pressure, but in reality - both mean little in terms of setting us up for next season.

This years relegation scrap has forced attention towards our disaster of a boardroom and although some changes have been token, and others just human shields (Sharpy...) I think more pressure will rightly be put on them once we're safe... a failing setup leading this so-called strategic review won't wash.

There's still a lot of talent in this team for us to build around, or sell as part of a rebuild... Pickford, Godfrey, Patterson, Gordon, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin.

Bramley-Moore Dock is a massive positive.

Lampard will be under no illusion going into the summer on who need the bums rush.

Moshiri, I think, will back the club with money again this summer.

That's assuming we stay up.

But I do generally agree that, either way, there's needs to be a major shift in the summer to change the culture at the club and that starts with punting a load of the players.

It's nearly summer and we can all forget how poo our players are, build them up into something they are not in our minds by remembering the good bits and then be shocked when we are crap again next year.

Although going down will be dreadful, I think it’s a reality we might have to be prepared for and try to look at the positive side of it.

Some of our younger players like Gordon, Godfrey etc. will benefit from playing at a lower level with less pressure on their shoulders.

Even if we’re forced to sell DCL and Richarlison we should still be able to get huge fees for them regardless of being in the championship.

Going down might actually be the catalyst for a culture change at the club which leads to us signing younger, promising players who’ll benefit from a manager who has performed well in the championship.

Not convinced we'll stay up, not convinced at all. getting rid of James was a real masterstroke, look how creative we are now, James and his 20 games may have been the difference this season who knows.

Lampard for me is a positive and his coaching team, honestly believe long term will be the right hire.

It's great we are getting rid of deadwood, now we need to learn from our catastrophic mistakes, let Thelwell and Lampard do their jobs unhindered and let's forget this season ever happened. IF we stay up, IF.

We need to be less reactionary about results at the moment, feel good factor of Thurs to absolute depression on Sun. Truth is we should be somewhere in between. Job of work is to back this team until the end of the season.

Ultimately we need to leave a manager there for four years regardless and build something coherent and consistent we crave sustainability, so sick of new dawns and waiting for contracts to run down.

Expectations going into the summer need to be low if we are still in the PL - forget about names substance over reputation. In all honesty if i was an up and coming kid or a player looking for a move on a rung up the ladder to a bigger club - i wouldn't pick us, only thing you are guaranteed is almost anew manager a season. Thats what we need to target for change, doesnt matter what division we are in, that has to be the plan.

Providing we survive I honestly do think next season will be significantly better than this, personally I'd settle just to see us in around 9th/10th again. It's going to take time but we've finally got a manager who seems willing to put his heart and soul into this project, and Moshiri you'd hope will stop listening to Kia. Some of our most serious problems aren't hard to fix if there's will for it at board level.

It's all about not going down this year, if that were to happen we'd lose everything. The new stadium, all our decent players (though there's not many admittedly), Lampard probably and most importantly the TV money. We'd absolutely F'd, like Sunderland levels of trouble. Just get over the line, take a big breath and put this sorry period behind us forever in the summer.

And to anyone who's giving their energy to what that lot are doing, please stop it. You're an Everton supporter, not a 'whoever the RS are playing this week' supporter.

I would settle for a team I can relate to again regardless of the league we are in.

We are at an all time low for me because even when things have been bad previously, we felt as though the players got the club and people behind the scenes were trying to change things instead of the current mentality which seems to be “we are the best at what we do and soon enough that will start to show”.

In a world where Imposter syndrome is everywhere, we have ended up with a bunch of players and staff that have quite the opposite, god complexes
