Reasons for optimism...

Stay up by any means possible.....a deflection of Cenk’s toupee away at Arsenal last game of the season in 98th minute from a Delph mis-hit shot.
Eject the end-of-contractors.
Reveal our intended playing identity and instil it from sub-academy right through to first team.
Publically state the Manager and DoF will be here a minimum of 5 years irrespective of short-mid term results.
Sell anyone and everyone the Manager and DoF decide won’t fit our new identity.
Recruit young, athletic, hungry players.
Push the reset set button and make this club Everton again.

Provided we stay up.

Evict the board, every last one of them apart from maybe Chong who seems to be just getting on with his thing.

The Owner is welcome to remain absent, provided he appoints the very best people we can attract. You don't hear many Spurs fans moaning that Joe Lewis hardly ever shows up at their 1 Billion Pound stadium.

Sell one 'key' player, probably DCL to give us decent spending ability. Also, take whatever we can get for Mina. Love him, but utterly useless with his levels of availability.

Let the DoF do his job, sign young, hungry players with a point to prove. Bring in a few 'top 6' loans if needed. Use our managers reputation as a player.

Finish 14th or so.

Progress.

Perfect plan on paper. Not the best track record of doing this though...

I’m finding it really hard at the minute to have any optimism regarding Everton. I’m usually quite an optimistic evertonian aswell, god knows why all’s I’ve ever known is failure.
If I was trying to be optimistic about anything it would be things in football can change quite quickly, if Lampard and thelwell can get recruitment right in the summer (providing we stay up) hopefully our fortunes can change, they can’t get any worse! Plus there seems to be a crop of decent young players coming through plus the likes of Gordon, branthwaite and Patterson. But knowing Everton nothing will change and we’ll be a mid table championship club next season.
