Recent signings obvious to a blind man we shouldn't have made

Several I agree with (Maupay, McNeil, TOSUN, Klassen, Walcott...and not forgetting Dele Alli although I'm not entirely certain where we stand financially on that one), one or two were well over- priced (Iwobi, Siggurdson and, presumably, Michael Keane...the other one was 'potential' but clearly has the wrong attitude and attributes for the PL). Godfrey can still make it so the jury is out but I can certainly agree with you that the examples as stated have hemorrhaged £miliions out of the Club.

Our 'due diligence' is clearly shot - why buy players whose parent clubs are clearly wanting shut if they believe them to be stalwarts within their teams.

As far as Richarlison, however, he was well worth the money and probably single-handedly saved us last season plus we all but doubled our money when we sold him to the Spuds.

Fair. May have misread the title somewhat. Regardless still ended up being 20m + wasted.

If we are talking about players people think we shouldn’t have touched at all then the list should be much shorter.

Don’t seem to remember much backlash for many of the listed players at the time of them signing. Can only remember people questioning Iwobi and McNeill.
Shorter, I think the list should be longer myself, where is Allan? (an Ancelotti stalwart who had suffered due to injuries and was never going to be the same player for us) where is Doucoure? (a rather ordinary midfielder who is getting on in years and is rubbish with the ball at feet and doesn't really score either) Personally I wouldn't have touched James either, more trouble than its worth.

Fun Fact (Apparently):

Everton star Alex Iwobi cost a cool £9m more than the entire Brighton starting XI that humbled the Toffees at Goodison Park on Tuesday night.

A couple doing ok now we do/did have them but I dont think they should have been signed and that's with just a quick judgement call from someone who watches football ! what are these guys thinking to even dream up spending this amount on them ? someone should have said no somewhere along the line.

Some like moise Kean I can see why they spent the money and just unlucky the way its turned out.

Iwobi - 28 million to 40 million - terrible signing enough doubts on his ability from anyone watching the game for this to be a no go especially at that price. Should not have been signed

McNeil - 20 million - terrible signing. Again should surely be enough doubts about him for us not to sign him

Keane - 25-30 Million - Dont know anyone that thought he was a good signing in the fan base and should have stayed well clear

Godfrey - 20-25 Million - come from relegated team who conceded lots of goals. young but deffo a doubt we should not have signed him

Maupay - 20 Million - Desperate signing and should not have been made end of ! even the positive side of the signing had lots of doubts

Siggurdsson - 50 million - did anyone other than the everton guy that signed him think this was a good deal ?

Walcott - 20 million - Should never have been signed - past his best

Richarlison - 35 million - young lad didnt score enough and massive fee

Klaassen - 24 million - slow player didnt excite and we had enough number 10's

Tosun - 27 million - rubbish league, not quite tall enough for what we wanted and no pace highest fee paid to a turkish club i think ! Should have been enough doubts on this one not to go ahead

You were okay until Richarlison as he wants for double what we paid for him and created and scored goals.

Richarlison was not a bad signing.

Also in hindsight Gomez, moise Kean and one ir two others missing from that list

What? Silva played a player who clearly wasn't fit, nearly destroyed his bloody career.

It's a weird one with Gbamin. I fail to see how he can be worse than Davies? I guess Davies is a squad filler with a cheap wage, but that's surely the only reason we keep him around. We end up keeping obvious mediocrity and mostly rubbish like Davies around. Because he's cheap and probably "loves Everton". Still awful. NSNO and all that.

Not that I think Gbamin is the answer, but he just has to be better doesn't he? I guess we are happy to get rid of his large wage and hope we get a transfer fee if the loan goes well. We probably know nobody wants Davies.

We shouldn't have signed Richarlison, lads.

Did you all know that? Am I the last to find out?
if he had 10 caps and 10 goals for brazil or a better goal ratio in the prem then I could understand it but what I'm saying is the risk of the transfer against the fee is why we are in this mess ! some will work out by god we've tried it enough times on this type of scale to get some gooduns ! but I dont understand why we are taking the risk ?

I suppose with silva already working with richarlison he would have known how good he’d be you would hope ! But still a massive gamble ! If it had been 10 million or something wouldn’t have been as bad !

Okay, that's fair enough - I understand.

Good on you for including one of the few that paid off in your list of risky signings.

I (think) I get where he is coming from.

We all like Richarlison but if we are doing our jobs properly then we should be the ones signing him from Fluminense for 11m instead of paying Watford 3-4 times that amount 12 months down the line.
Yeah, I get that now. Just because it paid off with Richy doesn't mean it wasn't still a risk.
