Mate, you really do sing Apple from the parapets don't you!

Not at all.

Anybody who has paid attention to the case knows that this was the only real outcome, it's telling that the Jury decided so easily and decisively that Samsung were in the wrong.

And i would add that there's a difference between copying a feature here and there and pretty much cloning the experience of one product to make yours successful.

Google came out today and said that the results of the trial don't concern them because they have already made Android improve and grow without feeling the need to infringe on patents and generally imitate iOS. See:

No arguments from me. It's the people attacking Apple as if they're the only ones doing it that makes me laugh, when Samsung and Google and others are doing exactly the same thing to other companies and also to Apple.

Apple are just the ones in the firing line as they are number uno right now. A few years ago it was all Microsoft. MS have successfully changed their image leaving Apple and Jobs (god did that dude run his mouth) in the limelight.

I hate patent trolls. And all these big co's are all patent trolls. Hell, I would wager the only reason Google bought Motorola was for the patents. It makes no other sense otherwise.

The majority of the complaint is to do with trade dress. Which has nothing to do with Android. Samsung copied, so their product deffo looked similar, but Apple's complaint that they took sales away from them by confusing competitors is a bit daft. Actually, in a way, it is directly insulting to their customers.....insinuating they are too stupid to tell the difference between a phone with a bitten Apple and a phone emblazoned with the words SAMSUNG Galaxy S on it.

People are stupid.

There were actually reports of people buying a Samsung Galaxy Tab from Best Buy and returning it because they didn't realise it wasn't the same as an iPad.

But it isn't a figure you can quantify though. I heard a girl in a media company (who all use cutting edge tech) refer to her Sony Tablet as a Sony iPad.

Same thing with people 'hoovering' or using a walkman or grabbing a kleenex to wipe their nose. Sometimes a product becomes synonymous with the genre.

Which is why the UK court through out their case, and Korea just told em both to bugger off.

I think they awarded damages to both parties in a minisule amount......something like 30k a piece. Just enough to say, [Poor language removed] and stop acting like babies fighting over a rattle.

Not just phones......technology and gadgets.

Come on, look, I have an image of a speedtest I did at Caltech in my sig.
