Red wine appreciation thread

Châteauneuf-du-Pape all the way lads, love a bit of malbec and pinot noir as well.

Anyone ventures into M&S pick up a bottle of Cupcake, it's a cab sav merlot blend, not normally a fan of these but this fantastic and so smooth on the pallet.

Recommend a wine please. I hate white wine. Adore Guinness, also love the red wine indulgence, love it. Have a loving for spicy food. No sweet tooth at all. If you recommend, I'll try and review. Please bear in mind that I have come from working class filth.

There's so many, and it depends how much you are willing to spend and also personal preference. I got a real Valpolicella vibe going on at the moment.

That one I posted is probably the best I have personally bought. Not saying its the best I've ever had, but those include expensive restaurant/wedding wines that I wasn't paying for!

best price I have found it is here:

If I'm just grabbing stuff off the supermarket shelf for immediate consumption then "campo viejo" and "Casillero del Diabo" are pretty good choices.
You should sign up with Vivino, they have offers every single day and the ratings are usually spot on.

Also had one of these the other day. Very nice £10 bottle:

I used to love a deep full bodied red such as shiraz, but my palette has changed in recent years. I now prefer a rioja or chianti. The campo viejo range go down very well.

Wine is a bit of a lottery in this country. You can be lucky but as likely as not your red'll taste like vinegar and your white like paint stripper. This is despite the marketing guff on the label about hints of blackcurrant etc.

Chateau neuf du pape and Vaqueyras are my favourites, also enjoy Haut Medoc, Rioja, and the odd Douro can be quite good.
