Dyche has taken a team that have been bought to play expansive football but aren't quite good enough to do it consistently in the PL and stripped it all back and handed them a far easier energy-centred way of playing.

So we have a basic style of play but being played by superior quality players that usually play a direct style of football.

Hes just asked for them to do the basics really. Give your all, be competitive, concentrate, show aggression etc and to be fair they have really responded to the challenge.

Doucoure out is a big miss. Never mind his distribution that some get ratty about, he is a presence up front and his return has coincided with our better form.

Overall though we have been adaptable: Dyche has asked for goal contributions all over the team and he's got it from them.

The next big landmark for us and statement of intent is an away win.
I think seeing Gray and Simms upfront could be a turning point for our attack.

I thought Gray struggled as the target man role and he would be perfect behind a striker.

Simms since the Derby has improved his all round game, his goal v Chelsea will only add to his confidence and last night he was very composed with his back to goal.

I think those two together could work well.

I agree re Doucoure, we just have to hope Garner can give us something different, I've not been his biggest fan but thought he did very well the other night.

Doucoure did do well, shades of how Fellaini/Cahill played the false 9. He will be a big part player for us in the final 6 games.

And Dyche has done very well to foster that dynamic. We look like we have a lot of players who fancy getting a goal now. Honestly Tarkowski and Keane look like they want to score at each set play.
I think I'd be playing Iwobi in the middle before I'd play Garner there.

He hasn't got a PL presence yet for me. We need to keep that forward momentum going from the middle of the park. Put Gray out on the right and bring through Simms.

With the Doucoure suspension I dont think we can avoid it, tbh.

Management is not just asking people to do things. Management is very difficult and even more so when the people you are managing are earning millions of pounds a year. Furthermore, Dyche is not just managing the players but he is also teaching and developing them. He has turned a group of talented individuals, that were not motivated and didn't understand what to do during a game, into a team that is motivated, has a clear plan and each player knows what his job is during the 90 minutes. All of which he has managed to do in the space of 2 months. To say he has just asked them to do the basics is showing huge disrespect to Dyche and a complete lack of understanding of the job of a manager.

Agree with that, but I think Dyche likes the protection that Iwobi gives Coleman. He probably thinks Gray is better suited higher up the pitch, which he is tbf

Didn't they give Cooper a five year contract earlier in the deacon?
It was due to end this season but has extended another 2 years....

I agree, and that was a bit of an over simplified post from me, as it's late and I'm on my phone.

But he has simplified things. However that is far more difficult and complex than people realise. It's a contradiction, but simplicity is difficult.

He has done a fantastic job, and honestly I have enormous respect for him and how he sets us up without the ball. He plays the percentages very well in most aspects of the game.

Something has to give now. Unless he chooses to hunker down a bit more in midfield and play Davies in there. He may even do that for Saturday.

How many of Forest's remaining games are away? if it's more than they're at home then they're bang in trouble.

Yep only four at home for Forest now. Man. United, Southampton, Brighton, Arsenal.

I actually thought they might win at Leeds but to not even get a draw after going ahead feels a bit of a death knell result.

They need two wins at home and four points away and that's a very tall order with what they're producing on the road.

Wouldn't shock me if Steve Cooper is gone in next 24 hours. Incredibly harsh on what he's achieved there but probably worth a roll of the dice.

Not sure on his fitness but I'd like to see Garner get a run of starts. He can move the ball quickly up to front players so think in long term he can have a similar role to what Josh Brownhill did for Burnley.

Issue for Forest is that they must be thinking about a manager to get them back up if they go down.

Cooper has proven he can do that. So they must be torn.

As for Leicester; I have no idea what they will do and I'd be amazed if they do too. They've already been rejected by Potter.

I think he'll want to try and keep it tight; use set pieces - on balance I expect it to be Davies and I wouldn't be the least surprised if he doesn't have a worldie and get the winning goal. Dyche getting a tune out of everyone, why not Davies too?
