I'm an eternal optimist when it comes to the Blues and I've never seen us in the lower leagues in my sixty years of supporting them.

But I think that is that.

I think we're done for now in terms of our top-flight status. And I don't imagine we'll be seen again in my lifetime.

And the stadium project is obviously over. Teams in lower divisions don't build brand-new world-class international stadiums on the waterfront. It just doesn't happen. Who would willingly put their money behind such a project?

The table watchers have continually deluded themselves. It was always going to take more than 35 points to have a chance of survival. This loss with this effort makes that very unlikely. They don't score, they don't have possession in the box to draw fouls, and the defense makes constant errors. If they get relegated, it is no mystery.
