….ultimately the decision to buy, sell or renew contracts will be his. If you’re the Line Manager you need knowledge and instinct to make critical decisions. Even in transition, he failed to plug an obvious gap that blokes on here could see 18 months ago.

That alone is enough to convince me he’s not a football man and that is an absolute requirement of a DoF.
He did fail miserably when it came to the Maupay deal, but everyone deserves a second chance and it Looks to me like his no1 priority is he has come in to build an actual Infrastructure in this club first, to break away from the rot inside us. something we have been carrying for far too long. And in the long run if he gets this set up/structure right than that will pay off a hell of a lot more than one random messed up signing ( If we stay up that is )
I believe Garner and Onana were both down too him which isn't bad going is it...

We don't actually know how much his hands were tied when it came too the Maups signing !!

Wouldn't it be funny if 'Cornet' got the winner on Sunday !!

Wouldn't complain if Trippier done the same Monday aswell...

Realistically I see us grinding out a point at Wolves this weekend, Leeds doing the same at West Ham and Leicester losing at Newcastle on Monday.

Hopefully Forest losing against Arsenal too.

It’s going to the last day and we have the perfect home fixture to pick up at least a point and see us safe as I see Forest losing at Palace and Leeds getting another point at best.
Call me romantic, but I wonder if Moyes and Arteta might be trying a bit harder in the circumstances.

The down side of Newcastle's win tonight is they might already be qualified for the CL before they even play Leicester if Liverpool fail to beat Villa...
That won't change Howe's mindset, last home game of the season, being a night game aswell. He will want to finish that in style with a massive celebration with the fans... Wilson will def want to be hitting the 20 goal mark aswell.

( Feel like I've just cursed us now !!

Thought he wanted Serhou Guirassy then he and lampard went for maupay. But agree is poor move aswell as the vinagre who has been a terrible loan for us. Whatever happens this season he has a massive job

I think Maupay was just simple, available and had scored a goal in the premier league before. Aswell as being able to spread the payment.
It was just a last ditch desperate move that suited all parties. rather then being a sought out signing.

You don't go from Garner - Onana to Maupay unless there's some kind of pressure from above....

Liverpool & United both play at 3pm on Saturday, so whilst it’s extremely unlikely they now qualify for the CL, they still have to win to have a chance.

Doesn’t make a jot of difference really. Newcastle win cliches Top 4, and I can’t see a scenario Newcastle don’t beat Leicester.

Had so much fortune go our way recently, that we really have to take advantage now.

I think he expected Maupay to be much more of a handful/nuisance than he has turned out to be. At Brighton he was a niggly pain in the arse but that seems to have disappeared since he got here.
