I'm having slightly more faith when seeing the likes of Bournemouth, Leeds and Southampton look so bad. They are worse than us, yet a period without Calvert and that makes us easily the worst side in the league as we no longer have any kind of attack.

Just got to keep him fit at all costs.

It's still a very real possibility, but what helps immensely is winning this last game. Imagine how much worse it'd be if we hadn't. At least I have some hope this week.

Even if we had lost it wouldn't have been too bad if we had put in the same performance and the result was close. I don't think many of us were expecting to beat Arsenal.

What this bonus win does though is help massively with the math. What was effectively 7 wins out of 18 (really 16 if you like most had discounted Arsenal and the RS) required, could possibly be 5 wins out of 16 IF we can turn them over next week.

That would set us up perfectly for Leeds. And yes I know easy to say this and it might just be a flash in the pan and we could end up losing next Monday to scupper it, but the real hope this gives is get a few wins on the trot and what was near enough a win every other game could become 1 in every 4. That feels far more obtainable.

You say we would struggle if DCL injured but let’s be honest he’s not banging them in at the moment and that is why we struggle, lack of goals.

Simms has to be given game time in case we have to rely on him!!!!!

Really, it was an unimaginably great start to a new era.

We beat the side five-points clear at the top of the league with a game in hand. A side that had only lost once all season.

Talk about an injection of hope: if we’ve got that in us, we can beat anybody.

It’s going to take real graft, but Dyche is clearly the man to see that graft happen.

My only thoughts now are the Derby…I know I’m being greedy but if we can manage a win there (and they’re not in great form) then having got six points against the Arse and R/S under a new Dyche regime - would do absolute wonders for the confidence of the players and would be a psychological blow to the other potential relegation candidates - not to mention lifting the spirits of the fan base in footballing terms.

I said before the match on Saturday, that anything over 1 point was a hugely positive return.

It guaranteed at least a win, or going unbeaten against Arsenal, and Liverpool, a place we predominantly struggle.

We’ve got the 3 points now, and I completely get your point, but I’ll be totally honest, I’d snatch your hand off for a gritty draw and setting ourselves up for Leeds the following week, which will be the big test of our character.

I’d still have been upbeat had we lost, providing we showed the energy levels we showed.

That shows the players can play when they’re required to do so, which I fully endorse.

As it goes, that’s totally irrelevant, and we go onto the Derby with confidence whilst they’re rocking a little. If we can come away with at least a point it’s a massive 9 days for Everton and a great platform ahead of arguably our 4 most important games of the season in Leeds, Vill, Brentford and Forest.

I reckon under Dyche it's almost the opposite. Goals will come.from.other sources but, up front, I'd back a Maupay or a Simms to still get the odd goal which is what we need. Totally agree another striker in Jan would have been very helpful though.

Spot on except your use of the word "math"!

If we get relegated I'll eat my cat.

nurse?

Totally agree - it makes sense of the idea we actually have some quality in the camp

Lots of talk of things falling apart if/when DCL gets injured.

Dyche is surely too good a manager to be basing goals on one man. He will be planning for it.

Just keep playing to our potential with maximum effort and the results will take care of themselves.

I don't really care what other side's around us are doing as long as we keep on picking up points.

Think we have to be laser focussed on ourselves for the foreseeable; do that and we'll be comfortably mid table in no time
