So looking at corresponding fixtures from last season (I am replacing forest with Watford who did us 5-2) we are 2 points down - like for like (or summat like it). One thing I will say we are always in games, not getting turned over by 2-3 goals which is good, and down to now actually having defenders that can defend. Sort out a modicum of creativity and these tight games will go for us. Kiss of death. Next couple of days crucial. But think the defensive signings have far past my expectations.

This. Remember last season we went on a run from late September to January and won once, and every game we conceded first in was game over. This team has shown way more fight than they did last season.

I'm much more confident this season than last. Gordon is growing. The midfield is far far better. Patterson stepping up. Defence slightly improved. We need Calvert Lewin to stay fit but if he does it's comfortable mid table. A few unlucky draws and one unlucky loss. Villa the only real baddy. Important not to panic after the emirates

Not all of them, won 5 points from losing v Man. United, Arsenal and Chelsea under you know who but I take your general point.

They weren't even that good tonight but it is a concern how much more of a coherent, intense team Leeds are. Comfortably ahead of us IMO unless we sort ourselves out quickly.
Bookies have as the three favourites to go down:

Bournemouth
Forest
Everton
And why wouldn’t they after that scrappy performance, it’s doing my head in, we just don’t seem to have any coherent plan as to what we want to do beside just hoofing up the pitch and and hoping something may come of it. If we don’t get are act together soon Id say the bookies might not be that far of the mark.

No way this team is going down

We'll be top half minimum. Solid team he's built here once Gueye comes in and Maupay plus DCL and other injured players back.

The team is a lot stronger than it was at the start of the year, minus Richy. Mykolenko, Patterson, Coady, Tarkowski, Onana, Gueye, Maupay. A new team including the better players we had like Pickford, Gordon and DCL.
