Realistically we will have a mountain to climb if we lose. 19th or worse, a game more played, a trip to Chelsea.

I think we're as good as gone if we lose today, that's my honest opinion. Whether people agree or not, I firmly believe our chances of survival are much lower this year, and our position is much worse than last March.

If we win, we are in with a chance. Fail to win and I don't honestly see a route to 15 or 16 more points and safety.
If we could put even the smallest unbeaten run together somewhere, it does not even have to be amazing but something like 7/8 points from 4 games it would make the world of difference. But I don’t think we have it in us.

We really need someone to step up between now and 28/5 and hit a great run of form.

I'm not sure we have someone capable of doing what Richarlison did. :(

We won't be mathematically down for some weeks yet, but anybody expecting us to stay up if we lose today is a very optimistic person indeed. And good luck to you, if that is you. Perhaps it's a healthier disposition to have. But in some ways, our eventual demise will come as a terrible shock to those people when it happens. I'd sooner be pleasantly surprised. And my take is we are gone without the three points today. But then, I had us gone last weekend after the point, so even my "protect myself" approach is as neurotic as the most delusional optimist's. In summary, it's terrible what a relegation battle does to a person's pscyhe - optimist or pessimist.

We are down when we are down.
If we do go. No one denies we aren't in trouble. But we will not be relegated today regardless.

The way things have gone the last few weeks 38-40 points look more likley to be needed. We won't get get close to 19 points in the remaining 12 games. Not a chance.

I think it's a crucial game, even more important after the earlier result. You can only fail to win so many big games before you run out of time.
That's fine. But we aren't relegated today is what I responded to.
How many saw Bournemouth getting 3 points today . Results are next to impossible predict. We are relegated when we can't pass out the team in 17th ..that is factual . Anything else is guesswork

Self-preservation is part of it, but I'm trying to be realistic too.

It's a massive game, so anyway COYB

This is true. But then there is the educated guess - and the deluded punt. On a forum such as this, people are constantly predicting the future: "will he be a good managerial appointment?", "will he be a good signing?", "will we stay up?". It's always interesting to see who's got a good record on these things, if only to draw comfort in times of crisis. This relegation battle is just the latest evidence on these things.

It'll be interesting to see who, in the end, was right about this season when it is finally over - just as it was on the subject of Lampard or Benitez...or Mike Walker. I was certainly very wrong about Mike. I thought he was a great coup.

We live in hope. Here's to us surviving. But I have a lot of sympathy for those who think we are more than likely to be relegated if we lose today. Let's hope they are spectacularly wrong. UTFT!
