i don’t know we’re the wins will come from. even the teams below us have more fight and results

They all know if they raise their game ever so slightly we are there for the taking. If Newcastle start on the front foot they could easily get a result like Norwich did.

….we look like a perfect storm;

- divisive, unpopular and corrosive manager appointed. Disruptive on-field, disruptive off-field. Fans unrest at manager.
- slide down table
- manager sacked,
- slide continues.
- fans unrest and protest at Chairman and owner.
- slide continues.
I don’t say stuff like this lightly, but we've looked every inch 'the idiot club that mismanages itself to relegation' this season.

Villa, Wolves, and Sunderland being the obvious examples in recent times.

I feel at this point we just need a scruffy win to start a bit of a bounce. Today was disappointing as Villa where poor and there for the taking, we started slow, that and a poor formation cost us.

The FA cup couldn’t have come at a worse time though.

How does this season compare to those last day escapes in the 90s?

What was the general feeling back then , was it as doom and gloom?
In 1993 after a 6 -2 false dawn against Swindon Town it was a Mike walker freefall from January onwards I was certain we'd blown with a penultimate game battering at Leeds away. In 1998 we just couldn't get clear of the bottom even after a few Michael Madar (yes him) inspired 3 points then a 3-0 thumping at champions Arsenal before our final game against Coventry.

oof
Mate, they tasked games or else stayed in the treatment room for so long they forgot how to play as a football team.

They brought this on themselves.
I'm not sure if that's true or not Dave, I'm no lover of this particular squad players either, but, Benitez should have got a lot more out of them than he did. If they didn't try to play for him, and I don't know for sure if that is the case, then perhaps that was because of his bullying approach in the dressing room. If you try to give players the Alex Ferguson treatment these days, the only winners will be the players.

In any case, whatever the truth of the matter, we now have a squad of players, totally devoid of confidence, who have forgotten how to win football matches. This should have never been allowed to carry on as long as it did, but, people refused to believe that a/ Benitez was doing an absolutely appalling job and b/ that we would be drawn into a relegation battle if we allowed it to continue.

One thing I am convinced of, if we hadn't just had 6 months of Benitez' inflicted on us, we wouldn't. Be in this position.

I know he's not many peoples favourite nor mine but I'd throw everything at Moyes . There's just no time to be doing the whole this is our wooden seat history tour rubbish to settle someone in we need stabilisers putting on from the word go.
would never in a million years leave West Ham for us

We did that against Arsenal.
