But you want to compete with the best otherwise nobody would want to get promoted just so you can wallop Stoke and Stanley .
We all love watching us have at a go at teams like Wolves , Arsenal and Watford instead of the likes of QPR and Derby . Yeah , I miss those days too .

I think someone posted a stat earlier that Everton are one of only a few clubs in the English football system since 1995 to not win a trophy and when I say a trophy that includes a play off win or promotion from one league to another.

We as a fanbase are starved of anything and sadly with FFP/VAR we aint ever gonna win a Premier League Title and more than likely wont win an FA Cup / League Cup.

Thats not me saying I want us to go down that's me saying I wouldn't ultimately be that bothered either if we did as the league we're in now we are here to simply make up the numbers and fullfill Skys 38 game fixtures and all we get for it is away days at prawn sandwich eating grounds at over inflated prices and over paid primadonnas like Iwobi earning millions.

Im disillusioned with modern football in general maybe its the thought of novelty away days at proper old school grounds, cheaper tickets, fighters wearing the shirt earning their money etc. that makes me think it wouldn't be all that bad for a season or two!

whens the last time Everton have made you genuinely excited or fearful?

there is no emotion in this Everton finishing 8th-14th every season, no excitement, no tears of elation or heartache, no ups, no downs just "existing".

Death or Glory.
On it's own, I get your point and see where you're coming from, but would we be saying the same thing 10-15 years from now if we were bouncing around the 2-3rd tier? What about 4th, doing a Bolton or (god forbid!) a Bury? I get your point about wanting the 90 minute thrill ride (and tbf, I doubt 8th or 12th really matters in the bigger scheme of things), but I cant help think what Pompey or Charlton or Coventry or Sunderland et al would opt for given the choice. Years in the wilderness with no guarantee of return to the top tier, or dependable mid-table-ish-ness in the Prem with the hope that we're not a million miles away from taking a step forward into European football IF (key word) we can get a few things right. I'd rather be drifting around the middle of the Prem than drifting around the middle of the 2nd/3rd tier thats for sure, which of course, could also be a possibility a years down the line.

Save any concerns until you are adrift in the bottom three
Which will be when? Over the next month we'll be playing Liverpool (A), Arsenal (H), Palace (A), Chelsea (H), Leics (A), Burnley (A), Newcastle (H). It's completely possible we pick up 0 points until the last 2 games, and they're not a guaranteed win. League position doesn't matter all that much (some will say X points off 4th, some will say X points off bottom), but sitting on 15-18 points by January is staring down the barrell however you present it.

What would we be missing out on? Finishing 8th-12th every season, derby humiliations and bent decisions favouring the ESL clubs?

Like I said mate my life wouldn't change whatever league Everton were playing in - would still support them, go the games etc im not a Sky/PL fanboy you follow your club through thick and thin, ups and downs what its all aboot!
Surely you don't want the downs though? You sound positively giddy at the idea of relegation. It's beyond weird.

We haven't lost any of the last three derbies

The most depressing thing at the moment is we are relying on hope for points in our next batch of fixtures as we all realistically know we won't get more than 3 points from 18. People need to remember this run of fixtures comes back around towards the end of the season when we could (will) be fighting for survival. Worst times I can recall for many different reasons supporting us these days.

On top of this miserable run and continued injuries I don't even like the team, in fact I despise watching everyone of them bar 5 players.

Anybody who thinks this collective of jokers are too good to go down is living in denial.

There is zero spirit or fight throughout the whole squad, which in my view makes them prime candidates for a relegation scrap. The sad part being, they haven’t got a scrap in them.

Throw this dinosaur manager into the mix and it’s an absolute recipe for disaster.

Whilst BMD is being built yes - but post BMD having a 53k stadium in the championship with a billionaire owner, PL parachute money and a solid base to build from we would be back up within 12 months likely with a new chairman, DOF, board and actual fighters/hard workers in the squad keen to put a shift in.

Mates a Villa fan and he said relegation was the best thing that happened to them in hindsight as they were treading water under Randy Lerner / their then board and would have been in a loop of mediocrity for years had they managed to stop up.

Wont happen anyway we are miles too good to finish bottom 3 but its not the doomsday scenario many fans paint it as once our finances have improved.
So Villa aren't in a loop of mediocrity these days?

Dangerous game. Look at Sunderland, Wolves and City. All fell down the leagues embarrassingly. Personally I think we're better toughing it out staying in the Prem and clearing out the crap anyway.
