Is there any good news?

Well yes, actually, there is. There's no more illusions that we are "too good to go down" - this 5-0 hammering when we were truly awful - among the worst (league) performances* I can ever remember Everton producing.

So now it's not 1-0 and hard luck (City), not getting penalties (or indeed missing them) - it's backs to the walls and let's see who wants to stand up and be counted.

* let's think about some of the terrible performances in important games - in many cases we've had some excuse (Keeley red card, dreadful injury list (Bucharest, Benfica) but Monday there really wasn't a great deal to salvage from it.

Yep, Monday we had 9 of our 'strongest' or 'best' players on the field, with just Gray and Mina missing. Can arguably throw Godfrey in there too, but he's had a massively difficult season chinning coming back from covid and having to part play alongside those clowns Keane and / or Holgate, which is going to take anybodies level down.

If you told all managers that they could have 8 of their best 11 players fit all season, or just have a maximum of 3 good players injured at once, they'd probably bite your hand off.

It was Jagielka not Keane, but still funny.

Was speaking to my brother in law last night who is a City fan - told me to look on the bright side, there is nothing more exciting in football than a proper relegation dogfight.
One way of looking at it I suppose ?

Isn't it mad to think how far City fell when you think of it now.

Been this solider before, during the 90's, Wimbledon and Covenrty last day drama, we had a hairy year in Moyes first half year and again two seasons later. This feels different - the whole season feels a bit like anything that can can go wrong has gone wrong. Our position is of our own making and mismanagement but we've had a collection of terrible unpredictable things that have happened - Ancelotti, record signing etc, Covid, no money, injury, Benitiez, selling good players - then sacking, USM, more injuries........part of me thinks if we survive this - we cant be so unlucky again. If we survive.......

The Moyes bad year 2004 - well it was basically the fall away at the end as we didn't really feature in the relegation scrap and if the players hadn't downed tools we might have been midtable. 2005-6 was the first half of the season and things worked out ok.

Anyone know much about this proposed points deduction stuff? These owners have really put us in it. They "appear" relaxed over it but still very worrying. Friends are calling to check in on me because of this team LOOL. It's never that deep but still not a good feeling.

Think we stayed up with the lowest point total ever - at the time - remember getting tonked by City at the last game at home vs City - before City were City. We signed Cahill and Bent the following summer, sold Rooney with a week to go in the transfer window and we went into the next season with 0 expectations - the rest was history writing its self. lol

sam allardyce beat newcastle away from home and kept a clean sheet with a defence which contained Martina, Kenny, Holgate and Williams

he also had Schneiderfraud the Crab in midfield as well

christ he performed a miracle with that

Yeah plenty of City fans will say Dickov's goal in the third tier play-off against Gilllingham was a bigger deal than Aguero's. Heart-attack stuff.

This season puts me in mind of 97/98 - like then, we are obviously [Poor language removed], and we're going to be relying a lot on other team's doing us a favour. Also like then, relegation would be catastrophic.

The Wimbledon game was huge, obviously, but that was a weird situation where an OK team had sleep-walked into relegation under a complete oddity of a manager. We lose that game, appoint Big Joe, and we 100% bounce back up immediately with little harm done.
