Player Valuation: £60m
and that Aston Villa will be selling in the summer.

I back this point up by - and people will remember I've often claimed the comparison with RANDY LERNER'S ASTON VILLA as an important one.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3...at-aston-villa

Here the guy's suggestion matches what I've said about the situation at Villa this summer.

Aston Villa's financial issues are massive:
Aston Villa’s reported net debt has increased by 18% from £72.3m to £85.2m, though this would be nearly £100m if the post balance sheet loan notes of £12.5m were included. The net debt as at 31 May 2009 comprises £84.5m loan notes and £9.2m of bank loans and overdrafts less £8.5m cash. Although the debt is getting larger, it still looks reasonable compared to Manchester United, as it’s much lower (£100m vs £716m) and, in stark contrast to the Glazers, is financed from Lerner’s own company, rather than banks. According to The Times review, only four clubs have more debt than Villa: obviously Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, but also (worrying drum roll) Portsmouth

KEIOC need to recognise costs have not jumped like Villa. And MUST be kept controlled.

Aston Villa took a massive gamble and it looks to me like it hasn't paid off. No champions league = major cost control issue this summer (and debt repayment at Lerner's discretion)

Which is why we've seen the instability, compared to that seen at Everton. And will do so more, compared to Everton this summer.

Are Everton going into this summer with instability? No we are not. That is key and we shouldn't be allowing anyone to cause it either.

Wait till the summer. Aston Villa will be selling... (they have to for the points indicated above)

WELL IT BEGINS:
Is James Milner of Aston Villa Worth Manchester City's £20 Million Bid?

This is just it in a nutshell. Note my original points in the first post.

I've made the point that ASTON VILLA are NOT emerging.

They are in the [Poor language removed], and WILL be selling players this summer to make up for the BIG LOSS (gamble) they made last summer, and to reduce the cost of next season.

Equally, whichever of Tottenham or Man City do not make the Champions League are arguably going to take the £30million hit (lost revenue) next season. Man City can take that (only with the Arabs - but they'll be pissed off not getting it, failing their season objective) and Spurs can take it but again I believe Spurs will be selling players to make up for last seasons increase in debt (without CL).

But what gets me about Moanyweb's article. Is the sheer ignorance of the fact, YES EVERTON'S POSITION IS NOT IDEAL (especially commercial revenue) BUT THESE OTHER CLUBS HAVE TAKEN FAR FAR BIGGER RISKS AND ARE GOING TO PAY (excuse pun) BIG TIME THIS SUMMER.

It seems, and I recognised that straight away when the KEIOC comment got posted that the, original article (quoted by one commentator on Moanyweb ) that it was just music to some's ears, habitual criticism rather than realistic.

NO ONE CAN CLAIM ASTON VILLA ARE IN A BETTER POSITION THAN EVERTON.

But Lee Kidd, Liverpool: failed to grasp by saying:

"Surely if Kenwright undertook the action Liverpool have done today, then a sale would be one step closer. Yes, I know Everton are a "stable" club, but "stable" applies to both our finances and our league position. The way things stand, with the Sky Four dominance and the inevitable emergence of Manchester City, Tottenham and Aston Villa, if we maintain our current course then 8th place every year would be a top achievement."

Aston Villa's stability is coming to a head this summer, so comparing them to us and saying "they are emerging" is ridiculous.

One of the three are going to also be in a state of flux on missing the CL. The one that does get it will be a threat, with the extra revenue, but they can still mess it up and Everton could still out perform them if Moyes has his way!!! (without taking a huge gamble with EFC's future)

- but as LCAB has posted, Everton are just getting on with things (MUCHA, J SILVA and BECKFORD already), may trade up other players....

Is it me or are some fans massively missinformed - when other clubs took massive risks (last few years in particular) and are about to pay the price?

Yet our own seem so quick to stick the boot into EFC at any opportunity?

Well it turns out the sharks in the water can smell Aston Villa's blood and are bidding for James Milner

Man City - £20million bid............ Villa blood is in the water.

Whilst EVERTON are swimming fine. May sell. Don't need to sell if they don't wish to.

Huge difference

O'Neil is leaving from what I've heard.

Agreed. A £30million increase in debt (by 20%) in the last year. Wage : Turnover near 90% !

.... the blood is in the water.

And O'Neil is jumping into a life raft (as his/Lerner's gamble didn't come off)

SO MUCH FOR SO-CALLED "INVESTMENT"

Too many people have quoted "investment" too often for my liking.

People slate Bill Kenwright - but he's never done a Lerner and sanctioned buying players like HESKEY for millions and millions.

Everton are not exposed. That's what Kenwrights done pretty well. If the manager doesn't want to sell. We don't sell.

Villa are HUGELY exposed. THEY NEED TO SELL. AND MANCHESTER CITY (horrible snides) - KNOW IT.

I was told by a friend that knows the family, that he is leaving. As yet he has not spoken to another club. Avram Grant was approached to take over at Villa, as was Klinsmann.

TBH considering the ballooning debt at Villa.... makes the UK DEFICIT look comparable!

* check my previous "rants" on the subject

NOT SURPRISED MATE.

Well they haven't sold yet have they, unless press talk of a bid for one of their best players constitutes that.

They'll sell.

The financial accounts mean they have to mate.

Aston Villa are in a financial mess. £100 million debt. Only a 10% surplus a season in turnover.

THEY WILL SELL.

dunno if anyone else reads private eye, but in the midst of the latest issue's discussion on al-fayed and the harrods sale they make the startling claim that fulham owe him / his shell companies that own the club around £178 million.
