Les W (Aston Villa fan) says...
I have supported Villa since 1956. If Villa sell Millner (for whatever price), I will stop supporting them. Villa finished 6th but could have so easily with better home performances finished 4th. To sell Millner or any of their young stars is just not acceptable and would mean that Villa are not really interested in being the best of the English clubs.

:o

These deluded fools haven't seen the Aston Villa balance sheet obviously.

This post could easily be from that other lots forum. All jumping ship like all rats do.

Even the Villa fans I know (including my father) think that Ashley Young is an absolute scumbag.

I don't hate Villa, I don't want to see them go into meltdown, but I would like to see them drop to mid-table so that they're no longer pushing us for places.

Lets not get on our high horses too much. Our financial situation isn't exactly rosy either, it's just not as bad as some of the other clubs in the league.

Its not rosy no. But its a HELL of a lot better than I'd say 80% or even 90% of other clubs in the league.

For one the wage:turnover of many other clubs is just unsustainable in itself.

Let alone the huge debts some have. Villa have both!

Villa isn't going anywhere. They are expanding their stadium and can raise ticket prices as their tickets are currently inexpensive by prem standards. Plus they will be getting extra money from a shirt sponsor. Lerner has a fortune worth around 3 Billion US and owning an NFL franchise no matter how bad their record has been is a licence to print money so he could refinance or pay off the debt in a second if he wanted. If Villa is smart too they will sell Milner for 28-30M b/c you have to take advantage of City while you have the chance.

Their problem has been some of MONs buys. He's not nearly as astute in the transfer market as Moyes is. All of his players come have been in the 8-12M range, there are no Artetas or Cahills 2M buys in the squad. His only decent bargain buy was Richard Dunne who is just a bandaid on the gushing wound that sprouted when Larsen retired.

They aren't hosting anything in 2012 Olympics because of uncertainty over the expansion.... its not been officially confirmed or not if it will even go ahead in the next two years!

Huge uncertainty surrounds it.

So I they can't put all their eggs in that basket either especially with debt growing 20% in 12 months!

they can if lerner stays solid - thats the benefit and problem when it comes to debts due to owners. as long as he can transfer monies from his profitable company X to his midlands football club Y their debt level to him (as the overall owner of both) is not especially relevant... its only when he cant transfer money across, or if he walks away, that they are ****ed.
