Hi All,

With regret, I've disabled the reputation system.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts to minimise potential abuse (Negative Rep prompting a moderator alert) - we have had a handful of absolute idiots abusing the system. Those idiots will shortly find themselves permanently banned for being malicious, misrepresenting our community and wasting our time.

The reputation system will be revamped and back shortly.

Mainly the fact that he keep going on about stalking. I mean really. Paranoid or what?!

Then he goes on about PMing people. If I showed you all the PM that particular poster sent me once, then i'm failry sure you would change your mind.

The poster clearly takes red dots to heart, even though they are just that. Red dots. I find it hard to beleive people have a hard time over them. It's not abusing posters either, it's a way of saying you don't agree without the need to type out why.

May I ask you why you agree with it so much?

It's the online equivalent to receiving hate mail through your letter box every day.

Neg repping shouldn't have been used if you didnt agree with someone's opinion and couldn't be arsed to type out why.

I can see why people got irrated if they had red dots under their name, it stood out more than their name so a lot of people would make up their mind about the post before actually reading it.

Also, this ^

Disagree with a post? Then reply to it saying why you do so.

Sadly not. I miss logging in to see who left me a funny rep message :( I only got back ability to rep people more than 5 points the other day and then taken from me!!!

Ha!

It's probably not a sad thing that we have no say in what changes though is it? It's not our website remember. Just something we use.

It's been done to death though mate so I don't want to keep going on about it. Red dots though. Red dots.

For the reasons set out in nigelcoyb's post.

I fail to see any good in the previous system - only bad. It had two major failings - inequity and anonymity. A system where one person can add / deduct 5,000 points from someone else whilst another person can't add / deduct anything is just simply wrong - and in my opinion is just a bully's charter when you throw anonymity into the mix.

As others have said if you disagree with a post then reply to it and say why - that is all that is needed.

If people don't like the rep being left, don't read it. Nothing is forcing you to click the link and read it. Stop being such a cryarse over words on a screen.

Does that not sounds a little crazy to you? Internet points. Points on the Internet. Points that mean nothing in the real world.

I hope i'm not coming across bad here, but it seems crazy to me.

I'm glad it's gone. Some people seemed exempt from criticism and spoke to others like crap, yet if people argued with them then they'd be neg repped.

So when that neg-repped person went on to say something that was important to them they risk people not taking their view as seriously as they were pre branded as a kopite.

No, not at all.

What is crazy to me is the attitude that "it's just the internet, it's just words on a screen, it's not the real world". Try telling that to the parents of Megan Meier, Erin Gallagher or Amy Todd. It is the classic attitude of bullies (and their enablers) who try to justify their actions with "I was only having a laugh - it doesn't really matter".

Kids use this site.

While I fully agree that Internet bullying is a real thing. And very serious too.

But what about when the person calling people Kopites gets negged. Is that ok?

Good God.

Neg rep is now equivelant to thousands of people on Facebook telling a teenage girl to kill herself.

Honestly?
