Retaining Possession and controlling tempo

You are so correct! Yobo for one, loves to lob the ball across the field into nowhere and has no composure on the ball. Neville and Carsley give it away cheaply as well. With Arteta having a bad game, we didnt look in too good shape. McFadden kept it well and thats why I hope he starts the next game for us.

The players need to learn to pass the ball without being rushed into anything, just dont flog it over to the other side. As I've said before in another thread, they lob it over for Johnson to fetch which cant always work and doesnt always work and you cant employ the same attacking strategy of kick it from the back and get it to Johnson, because other teams will pick that up. There has to be more play bringing the midfield up along with the front men which requires being able to hold the ball for longer periods of time.

One more thing, Phil Nevilles throws into the box are [Poor language removed] [Poor language removed], in fact, most of our throw-ins on Saturday I found were disgraceful.

He truly must be! Losing the ball is probably part of the tactics, let them attack and then fling it up to Ol Johnson to hang on to so that one man can reach the box. Maybe I'm just really frustrated that we lost to Reading.

I cant wait for the day to see Cahill, Fernandes and Arteta in one midfield :hay:
And I must agree, I think we will be back on top form against Blackburn and dominate them. I call a 2-0 if Hibbert doesnt play, if he does, 2-1.

pass and move football, play the ball and run off 'your' man and try to get into space. even if a player just draws opposition midfielders or defenders towards them, hopefully it allows space elsewhere. the midfield needs more adventure and invention - the gaping chasm that is the left flank is still not addressed (MGP : when are we going to wake up on this one)

last season in the fa cup blackburn pressured and kicked arteta all game, and we looked lost - alright, a few players had stinkers, but we surrendered so badly.

we need cahill back (thanks aus) because hes a fighter. cars and neville can get in the trenches but cahill is the fighter - and its games when things are difficult that the fighter shows his importance. keane was a fighter, savage is a fighter, essien is a fighter. It starts with desire. Committment is essential. factor in 'that edge' and you have a player on your hands.

Hunt should have been hammered the other day.

I was hoping for someone to spark that Bikey cat.

He was doing my head in thinking he was all that.

And I was dead hard shouting at the shaved yeti on the TV.

shaved yeti, how strange?

i've got a collection of crystal animals on top of my Tv set.
