Does it need to come from the top down. Open to being called out as wrong here, but I believe the English fa have the power to determine who their qualifiers are for Europe etc.. it may be that they can take some unilateral action if they grow a pair

If UEFA undermines the national FAs, nothing they can do will matter in the end.

The root cause of all of this is the fact that the breakaway clubs believe there's an unrealized giant pot of gold out there at the European level whose size dwarfs anything the national FAs can offer, and they want to grab as much of it for themselves as possible.

As long as the largest clubs believe that, and as long as they're being run by the money-motivated, which seems likely, there's always the risk of everything falling apart again if they think they can scheme their way into that pot.

The solutions ultimately are:

- Realize that pot. The problem is that the remaining players think the consequences of this will make them worse off than they already are. They don't like the breakaway clubs and they certainly don't trust any assurances that they offer. The breakaway clubs created that problem. Now they're going to have to own it, and make substantive concessions to overcome that distrust.

- Irrevocably destroy the pot. The problem here is how to do it.

I think that the terms of the negotiation have to be realizing that pot on the condition that it result in a broad-based win, and that if agreement cannot be secured then the many will unite to destroy the pot out of fear of the few.

Well said. If you look at the new CL format, it's still favours the 12 clubs. UEFA needs to reform and this won't happen as apparently they are the good guys now. UEFA will.go back to kissing their backsides and the banner football.is for the fans back in the UEFA bin.

I put this in the other thread but:

Cap revenues for clubs to a certain level. Any revenues above that level go into a ‘football infrastructure’ fund that is dedicated to helping lower leagues finance as well as supporting grass roots.

This problem will solve itself. Real Madrid and Barcelona are skint, the rs don't spend money on players that they haven't brought in from sales. The reason they were pursuing this league is because of other clubs catching up with them, due to the Premier League deal. Providing the voting rights don't change in the Premier League, football in England will be fine. So what if Arsenal get a "legacy" spot in the Champions League, they'll just get knocked out anyway.

Your Barcelona's and Real Madrid's need to go out of business. They're in unsustainable debt despite having most of the TV money in Spain and despite having everything leveraged their way at European level, including referees. They are both scum clubs.

If UEFA has any balls they will now row back on the latest proposals which now allow clubs (let’s call them legacy clubs) to qualify using past CL history over clubs finishing above them.

Yeah but they won't, they only cared about losing their 12 clubs, they don't care about the likes of Everton. We need to reform our own league first.

This will come down to the remaining 14 clubs to put pressure.

First thing we should be doing is questionng the extra CL slots, this is damaging to our league.

Can we ask the premiership and our clubs what their feelings are on the new format? Fans will turn away from the clubs if we watch the likes of the rs and man u walk into the cl for finishing 7th. I know I will.

It’s not about whether they are successful in the CL. That legacy spot makes it even harder and harder for other clubs to become successful for more than a single season.

This legacy spot is disgusting and cheating, protecting the 6 again and they still wasn't happy, prob expecting 3 of the slots to be legacy in the new format why they came out with the superleague the night before the new CL format was released.

The new proposed CL format is almost just as bad as the ESL. Keeping the bigger clubs in CL if they have a below average season. Again finding a way to make sure no one can overtake them, it stinks to be honest.

It’s pretty much the 6 against everyone else in our league. When a team gets close the goal posts get moved and it gets harder for those clubs to stay up there consistently.

I’d like to think some of these other clubs had a backbone some pride and stood up for themselves but they won’t. They’re happy to just be a part of the PL because it’s the best they’re likely to get.

Can only see the likes of us, Leicester, West Ham, Wolves & Villa wanting genuine changes in this league.

The arrogance and attitudes of some of these top scab clubs and their fans is ridiculous. Clubs that haven’t even been in the CL for a while or aren’t in it now asking for reforms and more money. While clubs like those mentioned above would love to be playing in that competition and earning what is currently on offer.

On about a British super league, do they not think things through, that will destroy what is left of Scottish football, which is no big deal to me but is a very big deal to those north of the border.

I like the idea of playing Scottish clubs, maybe invite all Scottish clubs into the f.a Cup.
