He's better on the left, but Bernard has been unplayable as of late.

Great to have some genuine options available, and someone of Richarlison's quality will learn to appreciate that as the season progresses.

Up Everton.
Also Bernard is completely ineffective on the right and Richarlison can at least get inside into the box from that side.

How long does he need to rest? Was a few weeks not enough?

Id be pretty tired if i was a 22 year old brazilan international footballer who had just scored the winner in the Copa...imagine the women he gets...tiring isnt the word.

To be honest the lad hasn’t had a proper break for last few seasons coming from Brazil to Watford playing 18 straight months then coming to us then breaking into the Brazil squad then playing in the Copa America this summer he was poor at times yesterday but we know he is a top player from last season and his Brazil performances he just need to get up to speed but I would like him to have a decent lay off in the summer

Ah yes, a sensible answer ;)

Don't think it's fitness as much as it's just sharpness.

He's making bad calls because he's not sharp, and then trying twice as hard to make up for it and, then, making more mistakes.

It's still pre-season for him. And pre-season is also about match fitness, as well as getting fit.

I've gotta say then, the whole of last season was like pre-season for him. Somebody tell him that the season has started & that this is his second year, please.
14 goals and 2 assists as a 21 year old from a wide position (mainly) and confirms himself as a Brazil starter scoring 6 goals in 13 caps. And you think he played like it was pre season. Can I ask what you expected from the lad.

And......... breathe.

Messed up two great heading chances.
You would normally expect him to put them away as he is so good in those situations, but certainly the second was behind him and was difficult to control. Also those balls were whipped in by Siggy and all it takes is for timing to be fraction of a second out and is easily done if you are not up to speed.

Now what I call is a sitter is the one Ings missed.

Neither of those were sitters. The first one you would like to see on target but was far enough out that it could have been saved even if it was. The second was in front of the near post which makes it very difficult. When he's on his game he might put one in but it isn't a big deal that he didn't. His struggles in possession were more concerning.

Which is basically what I said as regards the misses. Hus struggles in possession don't concern me at this stage in the season given he's had very little pre season.

Just wasn't his day.. his general play was actually alright but the end product just wouldn't quite come off for him. Promising as he didn't look completely out of sorts to me, just lacking a bit of sharpness around the box

That Ings miss was astonishing.
He didn't look happy when he scored accidentally either.

Saints should have got at least a point if not all 3. You would think they would want to smash the RS given the amount of players they have taken from them.
