2020/21 Richarlison

I wish I could ignore every post with the word sulk. It's such an overplayed narrative. And honestly I've seen enough games where people talk about it in the match thread only for him to score later on to know it isn't really true either.

When a game isn't going his way, he sulks. Somehow, they have to get that out of his game.

Long before we signed him I wondered about his mentality - I recall him crying when subbed off when Watford were comfortably beating Chelsea.

Potentially brilliant, but you've lost him totally the moment he starts to sulk.
He looks like he's lost a yard of pace.
Regarding the sulking that's in is DNA that will never go away, he doesn't even smile when he scores.

I noticed a couple of times last night when he went to press their CBs they passed it to the FB and none of our players where anywhere near them, he turned around and put his head down with the look of "what's the point of me pressing on my own"

I'd be fuming mate if 2 players had a combined total of 11 touches in 90 minutes which is what he had.

Me and you could do that amount by dribbling the ball to a corner flag. He literally barely moved tonight, made a couple of half arsed runs, half jumped for a couple of headers and thatbwas it. The stick DCL gets sometimes........DCL lookalike a hybrid Lewandowski, Kane and Mbappe compared to what Richarlison served up tonight lol

tbf, he should have been out kn the left from the start because that's where his workrate is best and King up top.

Carlo had a more shocking performance than every player out on the pitch tonight which took some doing!
Aye don't get me wrong richarlison was absolutely woeful last night mate and I could never defend his performance. Carlo and the whole team got it massively wrong in trying to deal without DCL who we missed.

I think I just meant when evaluating Richarlison's performance/mentality generally we should take into consideration his previous performances and work rate which generally has been good. He might look like he's sulking but he sure adds a lot to our team (most of the time)

We should be playing long to him and DCL.

Play to our strengths. We will only have a succesful Everton team if we start playing long and bypassing the abject midfield. The lack of direct passing is becoming a sort of snobbery. We think we are above it or something.

We didn't play a long ball to Richarlison once that I can remember.

I firmly believe he will leave at the end of the season. He is not interested in us. Perhaps being in DCL shadow has affected him?
Or sacking of Silva (who brought him to the club) has left a bad taste in his mouth?

Played his best game v Spurs with midfielders driving forward behind.

Yesterday, they never got passed the halfway line.

He tried but needed more support which was never ever going to come.

This season, goals down but we have built our team around DCL and James however he is 7/8 goals short this season for me at this stage.

I don't think he enjoys the style of football and I'm somewhat with him there. We're too negative in the majority of games, which is meaning he's defending and spending more time in our half than the oppositions.

If he does want to go, let him. I could see him become a problem if we prevented him from leaving again in the Summer.

I've never known a player who looks less like he enjoys playing football. He often spends half the game sulking and the other half crying because he's been tackled.

When he puts his mind to it he's a good footballer.

I don’t understand how we have the best left back in the league with digne and yet they don’t link up that well and he is unable to utilise him in order to get behind the defence

You look at Fulham’s first goal against us and you think that is what richarlison and digne should be doing

I've mentioned this previously a fair few times. He's far from slow, but I do feel he has to some extent lost his explosiveness to get away or past people.

He's quick off the ball. He's never been quick with the ball at his feet. It's an absolute myth that he can turn a defender around.
