Right or Wrong?

It's difficult to say how we would react if the situation arose.
Obviously our family takes priority, but it's very important to keep a level head.
I've been stabbed before, and was very lucky to have gotten away relatively ok. If you can avoid risking harm to your family by simply avoiding a confrontation, then material goods are worth losing.
A gun pointing at your face tends to have an immidiate impact.

Jesus, that's horrible mate.

He's being charged with murder?

Seriously?

Murder?

That's an absolute joke. If he has a halfway decent attorney, he'll probably be able to get him off on self-defense (which is reasonable in an of itself)

Sounds like more than 'reasonable force' in this case but I don't think the guy deserves to face a murder charge. The lad may have gone too far in defending his mums home, but faced with the same situation how many people would remain calm and know when to draw the line. I'd just let Roberts off.

Throw the book at him, for not stabbing the other one and finishing him off too. Because now that rodent is free to burgle old ladies and go handbag snatching. Tony Martin got four years, the disgrace about that was he let an accomplice live as well.
Had he filletted both adequately then it would have been nothing to put knives in their hands and call the cops, hey presto "I was fearing for my life, there were two of them trying to kill me". My fear is, burglars will only target me and my family when I am a little to old to properly defend myself, my family and the worldly goods we have worked to afford.

I was talking to someone about this yesterday actually. Quite frankly, if someone breaks into my home with a view to going through my possessions & taking anything they like the look of they deserve to die.

I have no idea how I'd react if I woke up to the noise of someone robbing my house, I really think it'd depend on who else was in too. My gut reaction in most situations is to protect those I'm close to, if my family or friends were in the house I think I'd do everything I could to get the burglar to sod off with as little fuss as possible. If I was alone however the [Poor language removed] would be getting his head caved in. Everything in my house is there because either myself or someone close to me has worked hard & bought it, am I supposed to just accept that someone else is going to take it just because they want it without putting any effort in? **** off. I’d try to ruin the **** with my fists 1st & if that didn’t work I’d use anything I could get my hands on to give them what they deserved.

The thing is, if you’re a clean-living, law-abiding person & someone decides to break in how the hell do you win? Your options are to either sit there while they go through your stuff & hope they’re not violent psychos who get a thrill out of hurting people, confront them in a firm but not-too-threatening way & hope they don’t react & try to kill you or attack the [Poor language removed] & do them in before they get the chance to do you in.

You either lose your stuff & have the psychological impact of knowing someone has rummaged through everything, leave yourself open to getting really badly hurt or worse, or you go to jail for murder. & all because some little scrote decides they can’t be bothered to earn nice things. It’s a load of ******* bullshit, it’s never happened to me but if it does & I’m in the house alone 1 of us is going to end up in jail

I know we'd all like to be able to severely torture and end anyone who breaks into a house but unfortunately there are laws to abide by - not easy when you're in that situation to keep your head cool and protect your family, plus it must be incredibly frightening and adrenaline makes us do daft things which we sometimes later regret.

Personally I think it's fair game if they break in but then if that was the law then the offenders would evolve into tooling themselves up and more people would die. Our law system tries to punish and rehabilitate, so that scumbag in your house needs to have the chance to rehabilitate and I'm sure some of them have.

Therefore, hurt them bad but don't end them lids.

That's your excuse for driving up the profit on your merchandise.

I'm sure in other countries it's ok to defend yourself, your home and your family when intruders are in your house. Obviously not in this country. Here you have to sit there, let burgulars take what they want, don't get in their way and for God's sake don't even think about hurting them!

Reasonable force, always thought that phrase a bit woolly. You might achieve it with training but how’s Joe public supposed to cope against two of them. As Chico said the” adrenalin flows”. Self preservation boots in and you do your best to floor them by whatever means necessary. Worry about their condition afterwards.

If someone in Texas were to shoot an intruder inside their home, more often than not, it's referred to the grand jury without charges meaning the individual has the right to defend himself or herself.
