from bbc:

"Atletico Madrid have signed Brazilian midfielder Thiago Motta from Barcelona. He's Ronaldinho's best mate at the Nou Camp. That has paved the way for former Birmingham target Peter Luccin to leave the Spanish capital for Real Zaragoza."

or could it mean their pursuit of riq is off?

This transfer window (the Fernandes incident aside) has been quite eventful.

And with Fernandes even more eventful.. but not just positive news.

Would love to get Riquelme. He has experience and would bring respect from his opponents. Would also show our youngsters that even big name stars are coming to play here, so we're really getting somewhere. This wouldn't have been even plausible a few years ago.

At 29 he also have a few seasons ahead of him.

I would suspect that Riquelme, who is apparently desperate to leave Villareal, will have the paper work in place for a transfer to AM if a move to the Prem falls through, he really does want out.

Does any one know what cause the fall out at Villareal, its a bit like Mikel leaving here having been dumped in the reserves by the gaffa.

I'm a bit concerned as to the effect on team spirit all these moves will have as it must make some difference:blink:  b)

If he wants to come here then he'll fit in fine.

Its attitudes of those who stab us in the back before we sign them that we want away with.

AM have 4 non EU players to get Riqqy they would have to lose one.

All gone a bit too quiet for my liking, less than 6 hours to go?

there might still be some bitterness over that penalty miss. and as far as im aware villareal might not have the sheer volume of south american / latinos at the club like they once had - i say once had because that was the time when he (riq) settled in and inspired them to such heights.

it appears him and villareal coach Juan Carlos Crespi have fallen out, but i cant find any solid facts, could be money, club ambition, or something obscure.

still like to know, our team spirit is second to none and I would hate any of the new guys to upset that balance:( (y)

I'm guessing ambition....You don't replace Diego Forlan with Giuseppe Rossi...
