Roberto Martinez discussion

For the record I don't hate Martinez or necessarily want him sacked. I see a flawed manager that seems to address problems too slowly, has favorited that are detrimental to the team, and has a philosophy that doesn't work in the real world. A philosophy he stole from Fat Les

He's made some great signings, albeit by spending about 60 million.
He's gone from playing "possession over everything" to "hit them on the fast break" to "bums against the wall lads" and can't seem to find a mix or match horses for courses.

Sorry if this upsets the cult but you can't reason with fanatics.

Those two losses: the only ones in the last 15 games.

Move along.

Nothing to see here^ poster clearly thinks not losing is more important than winning
:coffee:
You could go all season unbeaten and be relegated, I'll also guarantee that no team in the history of football has won a meaningful competition without winning games.

Has a manager ever been sacked for drawing too many games?
Good question that, although when managers are sacked, very rarely do the people in charge of hiring/firing give any indication of the exact reason.

You may get

'The results didn't meet our expectations'

Separate question has a manager ever been sacked for not winning enough games? I don't know say 18 in 59 for example.

If so, Martinez certainly wont be joining them.

How can Everton get rid of Mr Everton? He IS the club. No one else is Everton's figurehead.

I've said this before - and I meant it too: I feel desperately sorry for the tortured souls who hope against hope that Roberto wont see out his full 5 year contract. He'll be there until 2019 and probably thereafter with a new contract. These people need to join the revolution and stop their hating or they're in for another 4/5 years of pain.

Im willing to bet he will be gone within 6 months.

If he wins a pot, he might get to around October, but failure to win a trophy, coupled with a bottom 10 league finish will see him sacked in June.
Doesn't ring true. The club - and majority of fans - will see the progress made in the style of the team, and that the squad being assembled is impressive...and Roberto is key to its development.

A drop to about 14th by May would possibly see him gone (without a cup win), but there's not a chance of that happening.

No, we are where we are: still in the first phase of RM's time here as manager. Basically - like his predecessor - he'll go when he says he wants to go.

You can only wish and hope

Another so called supporter wanting us to not do well jus to fuel their under nourished egos

Sad but all getting very predictable

Im just passing the info on, I hope im wrong, cos if im right, it means we won nothing, but he will 100% be sacked if he fails to win a trophy and doesnt achieve a top 7 finish.

At the end of the day its a business and businesses cant afford excuses.

He blamed Europa last season for the drop in league finish, the Europa money offset the prize money, so he retained his job.

The prize money from the cups isnt worth buttons, but winning a trophy will allow him a little "wiggle room".

Only a trophy will save him and even then hes gotta try get us at least top 8.
