Roberto Martinez discussion

Find it hilarious that anyone has the cheek to slate Martinez about "mistakes", when very few people on the internet even have their very first level coaching qualifications.

By all means they have a right to post their opinions, as long as they realise they are not qualified to say anything anyone should take note of.
That's like saying we can't slate howard for making mistakes because we have never been international keepers.
We watch and we give opinions that's what fans do,some people will agree with them some won't.

I'm still wearing the mask.

EDIT: I've just read the opening post for the first time and realised wearing the mask was a bad thing. Let me rephrase, I'd still allow Roberto to have his way with my entire family.

A lot of fans give a constructive and objective opinion regarding players mistakes, but you pretty much nailed it with the first part of your reply when it comes to some of the desperate vitriol being posted (in my opinion).

As an International class Goalkeeper myself, you should take my word for it.

One thing that i will mention in the thread and not the Gareth Barry thread(because its starting to go OT on that one) is that I am surprised at how narrow Martinez has his teams set up. He has almost no wide players in the team. Granted, Pienaar is...injured and Mirallas is hurt, but he's not using Atsu almost at all. His teams have a lot of players that play almost the exact same position, albeit to different levels of success. At this point, Eto'o, Barkley, Naismith and to a lesser extent Osman play in that role just behind Lukaku and not one of them are even remotely useful out wide. Seeing Barkley in the middle yesterday showed how boss he is there, out wide is just a waste.

Im really hoping he does something in the January window but i doubt it would happen..

Atsu isn't playing because on the occasions that he's come on he's looked absolutely scared stiff and hasn't showed for the ball at all....in fact he's got rid if it with a short pass very quickly and not made space for a return.
McGeady has started quite a few and been effective....he's simply not flavour of the month with some who were perhaps expecting Gareth Bale-esque performances for no money.
Pienaar and Mirallas have both been injured, and we have flying full backs who bomb-on at every given opportunity.
I wouldn't say we were narrow at all.

Don't care what anyone says the man's been an absolute coward this season with his team selections. Too many favourites ala eto'o and Naismith and not showing character to drop certain names and instead make the side inbalanced

Nothing wrong with playing Eto'o, but playing Ross out wide is the problem really. Eto'o has been very good this season but Ross deserves the chance to play in his actual position.

He had McGeady, Atsu and Mirallas today and decided to never have more than one of them on at a time. Baffling.

Pienaar was on the bench as well.

My mask is just about falling off, getting sick of this season and I honestly blame most of it on the decisions of Martinez. This isn't just his absolutely terrible tactics in games hindering players like Barkley and Lukaku but I think this stretches right back to pre-season, exactly what was he playing at? No big testing games to get the players in good condition, giving Lukaku, Mirallas etc extended breaks despite them hardly even playing. He is really frustrating this season, if Kenwright wasn't such a kiss ass he would be under pressure at any other big club.

His subs have been the worst part this season. Last season when he did mess up his initial XI or things weren't going too well, his subs would be important and turn it around. They have been appalling so far though. Osman!?! McGeady for Kev?

Why he insists with at least one player playing in an ineffectual position every game is what I don't understand.
