Roberto Martinez discussion

you seriously think it's ridiculous that Martinez is or has been compared to Rodgers? Seriously? I'm calling BS, even before either were appointed I'D of thought it.
There are similarities certainly in terms of the way they speak to media, but (and maybe I'm being bias) I think Martinez is a much more likeable guy, seems genuine in his convictions to play passing football and believes in the youth set up. I don't trust him one iota when it comes to injuries but he's also not throwing players under the bus when it goes wrong like Rogers has.

Anyone just has to watch the Hillsborough ceremony at Anfield to see the real difference in the two men.

Again, perhaps I'm biased a bit, but I feel like Martinez has entered into the spirit of Everton more than Rodgers has at Liverpool with their actions rather than words.

Maybe, and maybe he is a better public speaker than Rogers, (not really a stick to beat him with that), but the way he was received by the (mainly) Liverpool crowd that afternoon was astonishing.

I think stuff comes naturally to Martinez, charm, wit, that sort of stuff, whereas with Rogers it all seems contrived. BTW, I disliked him before he got the Liverpool job, my mate is a Reading STH and he put me onto him way back then.

He's the Spanish Rodgers, if you [Poor language removed] Rodgers and not Martinez you are just a hypocrite, its as simple as that.

I wouldn't trust either of them in the transfer market and as for Bill Kenwright he must have balls of steel signing some of the transfer fee cheques and wage cheques. I'd cringe knowing we were paying McGeady what we are paying him for the next however amount of years not to mention another 30 pay cheques to Barry at between 200 to 300k per month
But McGeady cost far less in fees and wages than any of Rodgers equivalent buys (Assaidi 3m, Alberto 7m, Aspas 7m) and imo has shown more than any of them.

Barry's partnership with McCarthy was a crucial part of our success last year and before his ankle injury was doing fine. Their combined cost was ~ 15m, Rodgers has spent that on Joe Allen alone.

As for their abilities as a manager, look at how Victor Moses fared under each of them.

but but but 3 years for Barry, on the day before the squad were expected back for pre season 3 or 4 weeks after his City contract ran out, it smacks of desperation if he didnt fancy joining us on a 1 year rolling then in a bit fat arse

Seems a bit daft trying to compare two managers on the basis of the contract details, (which we dont know), of one player isnt it? Not one single manager ever has a 100% success rate in the transfer market, but the difference between Martinez and Rogers is a chasm in my view.

Just cause Rodgers is a monumental tit and pretty awful manager doesn't mean there can't be any negative comparisons between him and Martinez and that Martinez is perfect.

Why would you have wanted us to pay him for a month before preseason to sit on his "fat arse"?

Personally would have preferrd 2 vs 3 year contract but think Martinez sees him being backup left CB to replace Distin as his legs go.

I am not convinced by either of them I think it is just a battle of the bullshitters
that's the best way to put it, they are both like the afterbirth of Pep Guardiola, they have both missed the boat and have therefore been found out, it's as simple as that, Let the CB's have it but the Minute the Full Backs have it......Press and they won't cope.

OK, as if he it was Everton playing the waiting game to give him a 3 year deal, if you think that then god help you
