Roberto Martinez discussion

It's a smorgasboard of acute sh1te that he's heaping on us at the moment.
  • Consistently playing three "number tens" (in his language) in the same team with two of them out wide. For the 10th time. Without success.
  • A complete lack of urgency in the final third which may be related to the above.
  • A ponderous midfield which was lifted briefly with Barkley and Besic against QPR and duly scrapped for Southampton.
  • Our record striker playing in a system that not only negates his threat but absolutely ruins him.
  • The opposition buzzing off us as our centre backs pass the ball amongst each other without moving it forward.
  • Really crap subs.
I don't want him fired, I just want someone to shake him really, really hard and ask him to sort it out as it's very obvious things to fix.

And dare he be even slightly positive in the post match interview.

let me try add to that,

passing excessively with no idea what to do with the ball.

9 out of 10 times lukaku receive the ball with back to goal and defender breathing down his next, this is his weakest aspect of his game but this is the only way we play the ball to him

why do we need to make 20 to 40 passes before we had any attempt on goal? We often lose the ball in less than 15 passes so why are we playing in a style that's not working?

Anyone who thinks martinez will change things is deluded.

Every year his 3 at the back at wigan had them nearly relegated yet he stuck by it and now they are in position to be relagated into league one.

He's stubborn and won't change.

This is wildly off the mark. Going to three at the back saved them from relegation at least once, and my memory is inclined to say it was more accuately twice.

Then he'd have to do his business early... I actually don't think the centre-halves are the problem, and certainly not when Stones is back. Out wide really is an issue though - McGeady isn't good enough, Mirallas is inconsistent and Pienaar looks like his legs have gone.

I'd ship Atsu back to Chelsea and look for another loan and a permanent out wide.
The CBs offer us nothing. They're not good enough to carry the ball, and they are hopeless defending set pieces. I also dont like Distin's attitude....and lets face it, the pair of them are friggin ancient.

I'm looking at this as typical second season syndrome.

Martinez has this one as a freebie to get all wrong. I'm sure the board see it that way too (as long as we're not dancing on the trapdoor that is).

Martinez needs to steady the ship and get the next two transfer windows right and prove himself again in season three.

Needs to invest in a defender in January and start putting more trust in some of his signings for a start.

poor comments from him, the performance was dreadful, we never looked like scoring against a terribly inexperienced midfield. they didn't have one player who caused us problems today but scored 3

With the squad he has dave i don't buy this 2nd season syndrome.
I think he is lost, weak and arrogant.
I have supported everton for 40 odd years and have never seen fans boo when we are winning, they are worried and rightly so.

Second season. New manager.

Surely our fans are better than talkng about sacking a manager who gave us our best season pointswise...currently has us midtable and in.next round of Europa despite playing like crap?

No...unfortunately many fans seem to lack any patience and ability to deal with their team being a bit crap sometimes.

Seriously...some you deserve to support Newcastle.

Having said all that I have no idea why no subs...unless he thought anything attackingwise would only hinder us more...and then the game was gone so it was too late.

Don't think anyone is seriously saying sack him now (hope not anyway), but if you look a month or two down the line, then if we're still like this we'd actually HAVE to. Not because we're fickle, but because the risk of relegation would be unthinkable.

If we're around 10th come end of January and not looking in imminent danger, then you just write off the season and give him another year, but Martinez is not a man I'd trust in a relegation dogfight.

Your arguing he saved them from relegation when he relegated them mate.

It's like arguing someone saved a person life before dunking their head back into the water

Am fully supportive of martinez but this is the first time where I've had to look at him and really doubt his managerial skills.

I mean making no subs at all is just plain scary.

Distin is finished, but I don't think he'd be a starter if Stones was fit, and Jags is still OK. I've got no issue whatsoever with the pairing of Jagielka/Stones.

But we have one decent winger in the squad when we arguably need four.

Don't even entertain the thought of sacking him but domestically this season has been a shambles. We've played some dour football and got the results we deserve.

His persistence with Barry in the starting XI is perplexing and is costing us massively. Having two holding midfielders is far too cautious and unnecessary. We're so lacking in ideas/invention and even intensity. It's really difficult to pick anything positive at all about how we're performing.

jagielka has been an utter liability this season. i mean, he's been utterly abysmal.
