Confirmed Signing Robin Olsen

Can't believe our board appointed the fraud Ancelotti when we could have had @ForeverBlue92 :coffee:

Every manager gets things wrong even the very best.

SAF let Pogba go on a free

Guardiola hasn't signed a new defence

Mourinho let Lukaku and KDB leave

Klopp played Karius in a CL final

Ancelotti has kept faith in a clown of a keeper who cant go 2-3 games without making a mistake.

As I said after the Brighton game, Pickford has some magical reputation of being top class because he's "England's number 1" despite 2 seasons of him being gash.

The only mark against Carlo so far is that he's been hoodwinked just like Alladyce and Silva were.

Romero should have been in and given the no1 spot.

Wasn't Plop given a huge contract before Carlo arrived?

It's not as easy as that.

What makes you think he is being "hoodwinked"? He is obviously not happy with him but at the same time its a managers job to manage assets at the club.

Romero is not a good enough upgrade, we seem to have wanted him on loan, United wanted to sell him and we have said no.

Probably because we are looking at getting a proper number one next season (Donnarumma's contract runs out next summer for example).

This may backfire spectacularly. I ve seen him with Sweden, he was alright, but with Roma absolutely terrible.

Why do we get a keeper who wont steal Pick's place?

It's probably more relevant to judge how he did at Cagliari last season.

I don't know how he did by the way... but he was there.

I think this is very much a case of sloppy seconds. We couldn’t get Romero or Gazzaniga, and in desperation we’ve opted for a keeper in very poor form. He’s only shone in the World Cup and looking at goals conceded per 90 mins it’s 1.24 (2016/17), 1.41 (2017/18), 1.36 (2019/20). He had a stinker of a season at Roma and didn’t set the world alight at Cagliari getting suspended for 4 matches for brawling with a Lecce forward. Is he better than Pickford? Absolutely.

Who says he cant? But guess the main idea is to put a bit of positive pressure on Pickford in training.
I would guess we initially had no plan of replacing Pickford, and changed our mind. But then FFP constraints kick in I assume, as well as difficulties in finding long-term candidates on short notice? Romero would have been greater, but at least this sends a signal internally and at low risk.

Way I see it is the revenue from finishing top 4 trumps paying £8-10 million for someone like Romero.

Pickford has more than enough capability to cost us a top 4 finish in his cock ups alone.

What gets me is the lack of professional dignity Lossl must have.

If it were me now, I'd be asking to terminate my contract.

Yeah just had a look at some of the stats. Seems 2018/19 was his regular games for Roma. Just looked at the serie A table that year. They finished 6th. But had the worst goals against in the top 8. 48 goals.
But Here now. Who knows.
