Confirmed Signing Robin Olsen

Why do you say that? We’re all allowed an opinion and I’ve just stated mine
Sorry but it is "clueless and ignorant" to express such an opinion about a player you almost certainly know zilch, zero, nothing about. Contrast that with the knowledge and expertise of Carlo and his staff who rather probably do know what they are doing

I think Olsen probably deserves more respect than he is getting in this thread. He isn't Southall but he is an established international first choice for a decent national side. He has strengths and flaws which is what you'd expect from someone available for a loan. We have had a fair bit of interest in Lossl so bringing him in will give us an opportunity to let him go and play somewhere whilst also putting more practical pressure on Pickford. One of the things Olsen's national coach has said about him in the past is that he is very professional and a good trainer. That could be a welcome example/standard set.
It's mad how easily people write players off without them even stepping foot in the club! At worst he's on a par with Pickford and we needed that to push him. It's a low risk signing, a loan and relatively low wages I'd imagine. On paper he is ideal given the current position we are in. We will only spend big on a new keeper when Pickford is sold.

Like you won't be laying into him first mistake he makes lol

I give every player we sign a clean slate.

I judge players on what they do for Everton.

We have signed many players over the years that I didn't rate and I've backed them from day 1.

Bolasie, said he was garbo and oh look, he's garbo.
Donkeree, said he was garbo and oh look, he's the best player in the league.

But everybody gets a clean slate with me.

Worth remembering that 2 years ago Roma signed Olsen to replace Allison. It did not work out for him (part him, part coach, part one of those things) but the idea that he is some kind of journeyman lower league standard keeper that some seem to have formed based off unflattering YouTube videos is baffling to me personally. IMO he deserves a proper chance and some professional respect commensurate with him having being excellent before Roma and the undisputed number one for a national team that England always find hard to beat but hey this is the age of instant expertise and fact-free opinions so maybe I'm just hopelessly idealistic.

Honestly no idea about him. I presume I will be saying the same in a year's time. Competent keeper I guess if he plays for Sweden and Roma.

In many ways I have little concern over this except that it implies that our current back up keepers are poor.
