Fair point mate actually, but when he's stepped in he's never let them down as far as I can remember, what did it for me was his absolute fume at utd blocking the move - the guy wants to play football
We have only seen a small sample tho, as I say done some quality goalkeeping but also cost us, admittedly I agree and I worry less when this guy starts, think his weakness is positioning/ getting taken by surprise

Why have imitation Pickford?
Feel calmer with Olson in goal but he is average at best ,says a lot about pickford really.
Going forward we need a new first choice keeper.
Howard stayed a year or two to long but at his peak he was better than these two other than maybe Pickfords first season.

Maybe I’m being harsh, but I think he should push Reeds shot around the post.
As for Howard I was never a fan and seems to be a lot of short memories. Cost us loads of points over the years, with him being rooted to his line. Not brave enough and got Beat from distance constantly.
And let’s not forget the cup final in 09 and the semi in 12. We haven’t a top class keeper in a long time. And it needs sorting this summer

He's ok. He's not great.
If a better keeper becomes available than him of Pickford, then unless the whole management structure of the club has been hypnotised in some bizarre scheme by our resident keepers, then surely we'd be interested.
Once we sort out right back, a fast attacking player ( that can play in at least two positions across the line) and a mobile midfielder that means we can cope with a suspension or injury, then this issue requires forcing if we want to progress. I can see the same keeper situation being as it is now until Summer '22 as I suspect that this is not the top priority as they are decent if not spectacular unless an opportunity arises that we can't ignore.

I wasn't a big Howard fan, got beat by long shots as you say and by balls from angels he never should have been beaten by ,
But think he had a few seasons that he did ok , certainly better than these two.
Pickford first season was ok , but even then looking back I was saying sell him after the world cup his stock was high, he didnt command his area enough for me and to many of his saves and dives seemed to be more for the tv cameras than was really necessary .
Nigel Martyn was the last keeper I had any real faith in.
Even below these two when you look at are younger keepers none command the box when I have seen them.
I have posted a few times i think are goalkeeper coaching needs looking into.
I thought he should have saved it and turned it round tbf, very slow to get down and didn't push off to the right as much as you'd expect of someone of his height.
Hes a very strange keeper. Makes some fantastic saves, looks dreadful at set pieces, looks like he doesn't trust himself to come and command his area.
I don't think he's better than Pickford but the worrying thing is he's no worse either. It's the lesser of two evils.
I think Pickford will always get the nod when it comes to the crunch, trying to protect our investment in the hope some mug offers a half decent amount for him.
