RIP. A great player from an era when it was ok to recognise great players even if they were RS. By all accounts he was a decent person and Peter Reid speaks highly of him , so that’s good enough for me.

I’m a little too young to remember him, but in that era people seemed to appreciate good players from either club. RIP.

He was a very good goal scorer and an under rated ball player, a gentleman, one of the few kopites I never have a bad word for.

not old enough to remember him doing us over, but to be effective like that for 10 years in the top flight is an achievement.

My nan and grandad as kop season ticket holders loved him. My dad, a Blue season ticket holder had by the time I was 2 put me on the blue route for life, after many arguments with them lol

Now all 4 of them have gone. Time has no feelings for anyone.
The world was a nicer place though when they were all on this planet.

Mentioned it on the old pictures thread - a local lad who made the grade easily 1966 world cup winner......

Even as a young blue fan - I went to his testermonial game at a packed Anfield road end with many blues fans to show respect to a local player who did well.....

A true Gentleman with a quiet attitude also chosen to be on the football pools panel on his retirement from playing .......

He's a bit before my time but the general consensus is that he was like a modern forward . Someone who run about a lot using physicality in contrast to those other England forwards like Greaves who used his speed and good touch to make his impact .

I saw him play a lot when Everton were away and they were in the 2nd division and I wasn't surprised to see him turn out to be a top England footballer. RIP.
