I view the forum through Google Chrome on my Android phone and the past week or so the Google play app keeps opening up and asking me to install either william hill, some photo printing app or I think it was twitter. This only happens when viewing GOT. Its just happened twice in about 30 secs. I'm a paid up forum supporter so should this be happening?

Have we looked at promoting that option Dan? As you know, I use a blocker, but thats as much to do with the age of my laptop as anything. I tried to unblock the other day, and the thing went crazy. Not your fault, totally mine.

But anyrate, I reckon the take up for 50p a week sub might surprise us.

Yes mate its at the top right of the site and regular visitors get a little notification asking if they want to every so often. As a moderator you won't get them.

What I think will happen eventually, as adblock becomes increasingly default (opt out rather than opt in), the likes of GOT will be forced to go down a route like the below;

Basically, prevent access to the site unless they disable adblock, or have an account with a subscription of a quid or so a month.

It's not ideal, I've put it off for years but I think adblock will get to a point where needs must.

That ^^^^ approach seems the perfect balance, and like you say, it seems inevitable as more and more of the web adopts similar.
