Roman Abramovich hands over ‘stewardship and care’ of Chelsea football club

Not a clue about the real numbers, but that was one detail in the licence that intrigued me, when it was said that staff and players would be paid. But they couldnt sell a shirt now.

Bigger brains than me will work it out, but if the club cant receive money, and RA cant pay them, (maybe he can, dunno), well, dont get it.
I also don’t get how chelsea can’t sell players because that surely is a breach of freedom of movement which was what led to the Bosman ruling.

It’s all so weird and complex

I guess its the same if the frozen asset was a shop, it couldnt sell bog roll. All it needs is some process to ensure RA does not receive a penny from the eventual sale, then all good, as far as pea brain Roydo can tell. It is proper odd though.

Is this gonna be like when we all thought the Scab 6 were gonna get demoted to the conference over the super league and then nothing happened and everyone forgot about it?
Yep, totally white washed from history by the media now.... you can't punish us and our greed it will punish the poor fans - April 18th 2021 the day football officially died - never forget.

A lot of this goes wayyyyy over my head. They must have a massive wage bill. Who's picking that up ?

One of two places.

RA, (cant see that unless there is an agreement), or their bank. (See previous brackets).

Or the cash levels stated are way off.

Don't think anybody knows. If they are gonna run up debt. Where is that gonna come from?
Will banks be allowed to lend?
If they are seized, are they in effect state owned and the tax payer has to pick the debt up? Proper mind masher, this.
If they don't have a buyer in the summer, then they must be allowed to sell, and ring fence the funds for club day to day finances, surely.
Or else they would have major issues next season.

I’m not sure how it works, whether an “outside funder” could pay the wages?

Mr. Ronan Abraham of Canterbury, for example.

They most likely have a massive credit facility at their bankers. And lets face it, the club will be sold, so bankers will be sound about even extending it.
