Romelu Lukaku

We've all known for a while that this was a fate accompli.

Let's get the sale sorted quickly, and bring in the new faces we need to move on next season.

If he's already gone, as he reckons. Anything less than the £100m we priced him at is an embarrassment for the board, same as when Billy Big bollox told everyone we would not accept a penny less than £50m for rooney, and that was after his climbdown of 'not for sale at any price'.

We all know he's not worth £100m, but don't make the statement if you can't back it up.

Tottenham sold Bale to Real
Man Utd sold Ronaldo to Real
Arsenal sold Fabregas to Barca
Liverpool sold Sterling to City
Liverpool sold Torres to Chelsea
Liverpool sold Saurez to Barca
Chelsea sold Oscar to SIPG
Chelsea sold Luiz to PSG

We're not the only club that sells our best players

Would just about agree with every player being the best or at least the top three players at their respective clubs but Oscar and Luiz not sure about at all. If you had said Mata then maybe

So many people happy to lose his goals.

Seems crazy to me.
What else do you do though, cry in a corner and give up? If he wants to go I'd rather it was done quick and an adequate replacement found and any left over cash pumped into squad investment. We'll miss his goals for sure, but it's also worth noting that this season we would be 7th with or without his goals. Have to look at the positives. 80 million could get us 2 players that equal or surpass his goal/assist tally this season. Throw in whatever else is available and more goals will come with the right players, as will a more solid defence, unless of course it's the same old Everton and we get Rooney, Cattermole and Terry in while 50m of the Lukaku sale disappears down the back of a sofa!

The hypocrisy of it all publicise Ross Barclays contract give him public ultimatums, but let Lukaku's alleged transfer in confidence where he is moving - so at this rate in my opinion we are losing our top scorer, and our maybe our best midfield player, while signing a third choice right back from the mighty Southampton ???????????????????

Lets not pretend he's a world class footballer either and that Everton FC will die a death because he's leaving. There are 2 extremes with Rom.

Are there much better all round footballers who will help the team a lot more? Yes there are probably hundreds, if not thousands. Are there many players who will get over 20 goals each season? No, not many.

Walsh is there to improve the team, so if he cant find a 20 goal man, he will find others who will contribute to more team goals.

I don't buy into this care free attitude.

No the club won't die a death or anything like that. Last time i checked though, our list of strikers between Lineker and Lukaku are pretty poor to say the least. In fact how many random strikers from overseas were actually any good for us? 10 goals a season was a good return for a striker, It was a massive deal when Yakubu scored 20 because he was the first since cottee? Lineker? can't remember which one.

Point is, we may not have finished any lower without him this season, and i have my opinion on that which is not the point here. The point i want to make is that we aren't going to magically replace him no matter how much we have prepared. Who knows if a striker is going to take to the league, the team, the city even? Who knows how many strikers we will walk away from for being priced out of a move by stingy bill when the clubs know we have the cash? What happens if next season we would finish higher with his share of the goals? Remember we have had like 17 goal scorers this season, so the goals were balanced out with just a top goal scorer on top of that.

I will say this now and make my peace on the subject. We will find out how good Lukaku is for us next season when he is gone. Everyone praying for another really good striker will probably look forward to your Osvaldos, your shane longs, your Pelles. These are the strikers that Koeman goes for, not the Lukakus of the game.

As much as he does need to leave now even after these comments, the club will be losing a massive part of the team once he signs that contract elsewhere. He won't be easily fixed by the transfer team that went around europe 12 months ago ans came back with Enner Valencia.

There's somewhere in between being happy he's going, and crying in a corner surely?!

Yes we will use the money to buy others, and hope they score us loads of goals. They might not though. Lukaku scored goals for sure.

What I would really want is for us to be so ambitious we could show him that we might actually be able to compete sometime in the near future so he would like to stay and be part of it. But alas that doesn't seem the case.
