Romelu Lukaku

I think their bigger problem is the lack of goals from elsewhere.

Whatever way we spin it, he's got double the goals for Man Utd than any other player.

It's tempting to point at what he hasn't got over what he has "DAT FIRST TOUCH THO LOLZ", at 24 he's never going to be a complete player, not many are - but there aren't many strikers better than him.

That's just it though - because his style of play doesn't make others around him better, it means everything goes one track through him and when he doesn't perform, the entire side doesn't perform.

That's my biggest problem with him. He either dominates a game with a 9 out of 10 performance and looks unplayable, or he's totally missing and is a 3 out of 10. The very best strikers are a 6 or 7 even on their worst days and still work for the team if they don't score.

So at least Sanchez has an excuse now then...

Strange then how we don't blame Tosun/Niasse for Bolasie and co being crap.

Oh god no, Sanchez has been woeful but I think it's January syndrome. See how he is next year and if United adjust to play through him more centrally as part of a front two and have Lukaku on the shoulder of the last man, which they very much obviously should do.

Still, the best player I've ever seen at Goodison, maybe after so long of seeing dross up front and barely scoring goals, we had a striker who scored for fun - literally every game. He deserved the biggest contract in history we could offer, but sadly we sold the foundations we where building, and now we're left with an ageing melt in midfield drawing plaudits after a 1-1 draw with Swansea.

None of the Utd players were at it today so it's a bit unfair to single out Lukaku. Their play was slow and pedestrian and he was feeding off hopeful balls into the box. Should've scored with a header but Foster made a worldie save.

That's literally an exaggeration though :coffee:

Lukaku wasn't ever a patch on Baines at his best....

Give it up Bry, he's an overhyped donkey who waits by the goals for easy chances. Hatchers we call them here on the astro

He's been of the few bright spots for United this season, yes he's had a barren spell or two but always does every season, least this time it wasn't at the business end of things like it always was for us. He on 26 goals across all competitions, Ibrahamovic finished last the season with 28 and was heralded as a hero who shut all his doubters up.

The biggest disappoint for United this season has been Sanchez, so far he's been an utter waste of money for them. Signing him has only stunted the development of the likes of Martial and Rashford as well, both of whom looked ace in the first half of the season. Both of them will probably leave in the summer now, I'd say go for one but we've probably got no chance.
