Romelu Lukaku

Genuinely wouldn’t swap him for Tosun.

I said the same thing to my mates at the weekend (I'm not even that mad on Tosun, just think he's closer to the type of striker we need) and they laughed at me. I can't get people to look past what is an admittedly good goalscoring record and see his ropey holdup play and regular disappearing acts. He posts good numbers, but is just not good enough to spearhead any sort of meaningful push for silverware

You at least have perceptive mates.

He is still a far better player than Tosun and younger. Take the blue specs off and try and judge impartially and you will see.
Not denying he is not better than Cenk but Rom is everything that is wrong with a lot of young players these days in that they think they are far better than they actually are.

? is this a serious post

Yeah I think so. Tosun has a better touch, far better footballing brain, can link up with forwards, doesn’t just demand it on a platter and berate his teammates if it isn’t exactly where he wanted it. Also due to the type of player he is he’s liklely to have a far longer career.

Tosun is still underrated, by the end of the season most will be on board.

Neither would I.

What we have now is what I've been hoping for since Lukaku left - a striker that will show for the ball and lead the line, making talented attacking players around him better so we attack from various angles.

Sure, he's not an elite level striker, but he's a level below and that's fine for us right now. Lukaku simply couldn't do the job Tosun does for us, as in he is technically incapable of it.

Lukaku is an astonishing goalscorer and he is overwhelmingly better at that part of the game than Tosun. At everything else he's either comparable or outright worse than Tosun.

For what Everton are trying to do, Tosun is the far superior player to Lukaku. For a side who want a goal poacher or to play on the counter attack, where you need a player with an eye for goal who is explosive over five yards, Lukaku is a far superior option than Tosun.

It’s similar to the situation at the pit. Sturridge is a much better goal scorer and centre forward than firmino but nobody with a brain would play Sturridge ahead of firmino.

It's a shame he never got to play with the far superior supporting forwards we have now. Although Tosun's hold-up play is much better than Lukaku's, Lukaku's pace and goals would have given us another level of threat going forward. The space he'd have had with Richarlison and Walcott occupying defenders and Sigurdsson's quality on the ball would have been something to behold.
