Ronald Koeman discussion

I'm not really sure what way you mean that mate but Martinez tried the nice guy approach and they all took a massive dump on him from a great height.
I'm made up he's told them straight.
There seems to be a common factor here. Martinez too nice a guy, bigged up players in the media and as you say the players let him down. Fast forward to koeman's tenure, criticises players in public, tells them they are no longer wanted and the players haven't tried for 2 months. Maybe the players need to be held as accountable as the managers.

To be honest mate I was never a fan of Martinez but I backed him because he was the manager.
But some of our players let him down badly.
I'll never forget him standing in the technical area at Anfield as we got battered, I could have cried for him because he looked lost and lonely and some of those @@@@@ on the pitch needed a good shafting.

I like his honesty part. Getting dead wood like Niasse, Cleverley, Gibson and Kone etc is important.

I however, have some reservations whether he is a good motivator. Cos what I feel is now that he knows he has money he isn't bothered to work hard with some players who have undoubted potential but need a direction. Prime examples being Barkley and Del. He knows he has money so now it looks like he's not bothered to work hard with some players at all. If he gets rid of Barkley by the summer I do not think it'll be the smartest thing to do.
Whereas Martinez praised the players to the hilt, at times embarrassingly. Koeman on the other hand rarely gives praise in public. So it is refreshing to hear koeman's presser today when he spoke to warmly about Tom Davies and his development. It begs the question why he hasn't been selected more this season? But at the same time, koeman obviously recognises a talent and the work ethic the lad possesses to make such a statement.

It may surprise you to know but there are still people in the world who place other things in life well above monetary gain.

True, but if that was the case would Steve Walsh the assistant manager of Leicester the defending champions leave them while they are about to enter the Champions league for the first time.

Yes, he never left for the money. Come on, take them blue tinted glasses off and step into the real world.

I thought working closer to home was a massive incentive to him.

Leicester to Cheshire, not a million miles is it. Plus, he's always away watching games around the country and Europe.

He left for the money. Personally, I'm not fussed. To get the best talent you need to flash the cash.

@vagant59 thinks Steve is not concerned with monetary gain, that's why he left his job of assistant manager to the Champions of England before entering the champions league of Europe.

He really had his eye on the seventh place trophy.

I thought this thread was about koeman ?,

Fair enough. But he also won the Spanish cup that year for them.

Anyway, my point was that he didn't have the board support that now has with Moshiri. If it doesn't work, he won't be able to blame anyone else, but right now we seem to be going on the right direction.
He shouldn't be blaming everyone but himself anyway, especially when he has been making alot of mistakes too.
