Whoa whoa...factor in the loss of 20 odd goals and ten assists from Lukaku and tell me what we're left with.

It;s not guaranteed linear progress mate. We saw that after RMs first season.

If we lose (and we will) Lukaku we have to get a top class striker in to even trouble the top 5 next season.

Its all well and good being positive but a bit of realism has to be applied too.

lollollol

The suspicion still from me is that he can knock over trash but is way too cautious against decent opposition (City at home aside).

If we get back to back wins versus Liverpool and United that would start to convince me otherwise...which I'm sure he;s arsed about like.

Most teams are, even when they play each other. The reason being they have the players who can unlock doors and bang goals. Your tactics have to change because there's more risk

so back to back wins, away from home against two teams we beat on rare occasions either home or away (including at Anfield where we haven't won in close to 20 years)... That would START to convince you huh?

Careful Dave, your roots are showing.

Agreed. Next season will tell us whether we're actually witnessing the start of something special. Replacing Rom will be a huge challenge, but I've been impressed with his business in the transfer market: particularly offloading dead weight.

Do Liverpool have a top class striker

Its never been an easy bit for us in the last 30 years. We are now managing the hard bit that is beating the so called easy teams. We are now after the harder bit of beating the so called better teams especially away from home but I believe we are a season or 2 short of that presently. But progress is progress and that is something we all can see. Good summer of signings and an adequate replacement for Rom along with more goals from around the team and we are set to go and challenge. We are the best of the rest with a threat of gate crashing the biggest group of spenders in the league

Of course that's all true, it's all good and it's great to see the home form like it is. At the moment though we're not doing anything we didn't do in Moyes' best sides when bottom end teams would come to Goodison in the spring and Arteta Pienaar Cahill would just put them away routinely. I will believe that this team really is different when we improve our away form, improve our big game performance, and maintain this type of form over larger parts of the season.
