But that is exactly what's happening mate. It's a storm in a teacup. A non-scandal.

you ignored my points about why its not exactly nothing. i dont really agree with hysteria and comments which use words like disgrace....as some people are prone to freak outs like that....but to me its just not the done thing and would be picked up on by any fan of any club at the top level if their boss said it. in 30yrs of watching football its very clear to me that his comments were not of the everyday bland variety.

why do you think they are?

How does replying to a poster mean that, I thought the topic of a forum is that you discuss things with people? Am I obsessed with you now because I'm responding to your posts? Dave happens to make me laugh a lot more than anyone else around here, just the way it is Friend.

no.dont be silly. youve probably replied to me a handful of times.

we will agree that Dave is funny.

His words will have zero effect on whether Lukaku stays at Everton or goes or whether a player signs a 5 year contract. Really cannot understand why people get so upset about someone talking about someone else's career or talent. Everyone involved in this an adult

I don't, I hold exactly the same position as @ijjysmith in that I'm just seriously not arsing myself about the comments because it practically means nothing. It's obvious to all of us that Lukaku isn't seeing out the rest of his career with us and he will move on to better things. Would I personally have said what Koeman did if I was manager? No, I wouldn't. But it really isn't worth getting as angry as some people in here about such a non-issue, it'll be forgotten about completely in 2 weeks.

i dont think it will be forgotten. unfortunately it will become part of any fan upset if results continue on the recent path. rightly or wrongly.

im not angry but im a bit tired of the club being 'promoted' in this way by people like Moyes and now Koeman.

Of course it could be translated incorrectly...i dont know if @Dutch Toffee has commented yet. If I could find some of the comments he made whilst boss of Valencia youd see some context, but I cant find them in spanish or english.

i dont know about all the posters, but many are not annoyed by the talk of Roms career. thats not so unusual for a manager to comment on, even if we want to hear he is going to stay.

its the way he references his current club that has caused the issue.

I'd argue that Martinez raised expectations and realism of where we actually are way way too much to be honest.

Don't get me wrong I can understand why some, possibly the majority, are a bit miffed by what he said.

Personally I like the breath of realism.

Optimism breeds optimism and he was very good at it - he also had a basis to back it up.

In 3 seasons he got our highest points total, two cup semi finals, bought a top 20 goal a season striker, played youth, gave a defender a chance (who sold for £50million). It's what kept players here longer, attracted others.

There was a benchmark to try and get back to after that 1st season. But the bubble burst and he got found out.

Koeman has zero optimism and is a realist which will breed the same punching above our weight mentality Moyes did.

Yeah quite possibly. Think I prefer the Koeman way personally but fair enough if people prefer the other way.

Someone in the middle would be dead boring!

Time and a place.

Martinez' optimism felt good until he became a parody. He embraced the history of the club - remember he brought Royale back? Gave Dunc a job? Added a bit of inspiration for the players at finch farm, kept reminding them of the history of winning things.

Koeman doesn't seem too fussed and came for the money. Doesn't seem much belief.

But maybe I wanna bit of optimism nowadays lol

I do like that we have differing views on the Koeman quote but can talk about it like normal people without resorting to insults.

Quite rare these days.
That's the whole point of this forum mate, to chew the fat with like minded Blues and develop a better understanding of all the view points. This place is excellent prep for the daily verbals with Kopites.

That never went away, it wasn't Moyes that bred that, it has come from above the manager. It's the whole culture surrounding the club and those that run (or ran) it.
