I missed the start of the interview, but if he said the first bit he is spot on. The squad of 2016 is the weakest we've had for years, possibly since Smith's time. How anyone could think it was "the best since the 1980s" is beyond me.

No regular keeper; many of our best players nearing the end of their careers (Barry, Baines, Jagielka); injury prone players in midfield (Gibson, McCarthy, Besic); inconsistent wingers who are average at best (Deulofeu, Mirallas, Lennon); no cover for Lukaku; too many overpaid players who contribute absolutely nothing (Niasse, MCGeady).

I wish RK had got rid of more of our dead wood before the window closed.

Yeah. And if he just sticks to improving Everton there'll be no problems. If he starts talking other clubs up and Everton down, there will be.
 

It was alright the interview. He did vocalise the ambition to challenge for Champions League in the next 3 years. It's important that we are not afraid to state that ambition so that was good. Referred to other new signings too which you would expect. But good to hear.

Other than that pretty standard fare and he came across well. Good montage of clips and photos from his career which is always interesting. What an amazing career he had. It must surely earn him respect though he did say today's generation of players wouldn't be well up on that.

I'm more concerned about where we're going rather than where we're at and positive for us under RK.
 

He said to Lineker we want to fight for European qualification this season. Next season we need to improve and will get new signings.
The final of 3 years we need to be close to play Champs L.
The team at the mo is at 60% of the whole project.
I think we can extrapolate the 3 year plan and he sees the team as needing another 4-5 first team players.

I think in 3 seasons you will see a minimum of 8 or 9 in the starting eleven.

Basically, get rid of all the tosh that he inherited
