Ronald Koeman...good choice for us?

  • yes, he'll get us top 6 and stability

  • no, it's uninspiring even if top 6 is back on

Aye, I wanted to edit them actually but can't anymore. But it's fair to say top 6 and stable performances will be what is expected of him, at least initially.

Agreed. I said in the other thread that once again we're looking to employ a manager who has to step up to our level. Regardless of league positions these last two years I think even Soton fans will agree Everton is a step up for Koeman.

Aye.

We should be looking at the likes of Mourinho and Pellegrini, not Koeman and De Boer. But we're in a scenario where we haven't shown ambition on and off the pitch for a long time, so it's difficult to attract top drawer candidates on that basis.

At least the shortlist is better than Martinez, Stubbs and Neville this time around.

Dreaming of Jose was in hindsight probably a bit fanciful, especially seen as we've yet to see how much Moshiri will put in of his own money. The Guardian link about Koeman mentiones transfer kitty coming mainly from player sales of Stones & Rom.

It's not quite that specific tbf.

"But Everton hope a transfer budget swelled by Moshiri’s investment, the new broadcasting deal and lucrative player sales – with Romelu Lukaku and John Stones likely to leave this summer – will persuade Koeman to move to Goodison Park."

From The Echo:
Farhad Moshiri can promise a transfer kitty of £100 million this summer

Not overwhelmed by the thoughts of him coming.....nor De Boer either for that matter.

But we sure as heck have moved on from the starting position with our last two appointments, when we moved for the coaches of Preston North End and Wigan Athletic.

I don't think it will be one of those two.

I fancy Mr. Mo is going to pull a rabbit out the hat here.

I am ruling out neither Jose nor Simeone.

Simeone would be a bigger coup than Jose. No way would he come here.

To be fair Southampton isn't that much bigger a club to come from either.

I'm with you: bit underwhelmed but not enough to vote "no"...gone for the rabbit on toast option

I think only Pep is a bigger coup than Jose, dandy.

Simeone's on the Ancelotti level, with Löw and a select few others. Still very high-end.

While everyone is dreaming Simeone, why not #JustHireEmery? Simeone is Athletico right now. Someone said he is doing Ferguson's Aberdeen, I disagree, he's doing Ferguson's United. Let's get Emery while Sevilla's still waiting for their sugar daddy.

what do you think about Koeman, Dennis?

Why not?

He won't be moving upwards in Spain, I wouldn't have thought, given the intricate dynamics that would exist in moving to Real or Barca.

The EPL is where the money is......so if he was up for a change, he could do worse than EFC :)

Believe, my son ;)
