It is far easier to look good when there is a world class striker and other threats in the team. Even though he may have been a consistent performer I wouldn't say he has lit up the world. A Spain coming to terms with losing most of their great players and are in a state of flux at the time of that game and Croatia despite the WC final appearance aren't exactly the best in the world.

The match where he should have been on it was the Netherlands game and he was decidedly off it that night.

I got no problems with people praising him for a good job but when we get all the calls saying they wish he was still here just makes me want to reach for the sick bag. He still hasn't become the player he looked like he would blossom into and one night against a nothing team in what is a nothing match won't make me think otherwise.
 


I honestly think he'll be back on loan in January. Not featured for Chelsea at all since that night out. Not been in the squad the last 4 games despite being fit. Included in southgate's squad today so clearly not fitness issues.

Because he’s been Injured. Him being in the England squad doesnt change this, they presumably think he’ll be fit enough for the matches in a week. He’ll need to work hard to get back in Chelsea squad though as Kovacic has been playing well of late.
