A wild Kagawa appeared.

Really struggling with my new season optimism here. Sigh.

Stange really, we sign Lukaku and have added a few extra quality additions, yet the farcical pre season results combined with two unfit Belgians and an injury to our star players makes the season start a bit sour. Having said that hopefully we can still get through this period and know if we are doing well we have some top class players returning.

You mean win the game against Leicester? Possibly not but then having all of Barkley, Mirallas and Lukaku might not either - opening games against newly promoted sides are tricky.

Important as the game is though it is not worth risking long term injury to such players as Mirallas and Lukaku to get the three points if they are not ready. It is even less worth taking the gamble since Ross is out for a while.

Anyhow think they will play some part, probably as subs.

Yeah I agree, I can see us starting with the front 4 I mentioned and then bringing Lukaku and Mirallas on with about 20 minutes to go.

The only upside to this us we've got plenty if time to bring in a few other players, got to feel sorry for Barkley though injured the day before the season starts that's some awful luck.

Think you might have answered your own question there, friend.

The ECHO understands the incident could actually have been worse, with the starlet - who only signed a new five-year deal just over a fortnight ago - narrowly avoiding an injury that could have wrecked the first half of his campaign.

Doesn't sound like it.
