That was the worst I've seen him. And no, I'm not a boo boy - big Barkley fan - but he looked very confused and lost today. Nothing went right for him, and he gave the ball away constantly when easier, simple options were on.

I honestly don't think he'll ever be any worse. A learning game for him.

For me, as you say, he needs to realize that sometimes the best ball to play is the simplest.

Have to agree..thought he was poor, especially 2nd half. He looked as know he knew it when he came off.
Protecting a lead is possibly the worst scenario with Ross on the pitch as not the time to try things, just keep possession.
He'll learn from it.

I really hope so because he just seem to be able to do what should come naturally for a player of his talent.
 
I agree, not a lot came off for him today. Having said that, half of me is quite pleased that he is attempting these through balls - shows that he does have the vision at least, and can't remember him trying nearly as many under Martinez. Hopefully execution will come in time.
 

Same positives, same negatives today, imo.

He is trying his best and does a lot right, but his decision-making and calm under pressure let him down.

I've notice that too.
clearly receiving new guidance under Koeman. Expect him to flourish and be our main Creative player if he keeps improving towards this direction.
 
I kinda wish we could send barkley in loan to Italy or spain somewhere, he needs to devolop without this pressure it's either the media and England slugs or our own jealous fans like myself.
 

At times today he was all over the place, and I don't mean the pitch. Good, bad, good, bad, good, bad.......no consistency to his game.
