2017/18 Ross Barkley

Loved Ross and always been my favourite player.

But I think he feels held back and that he won't get to the level he believes, rightly or wrongly, he can get to. He has seen Dele Alli hitting the heights, on all media BT adverts, Adidas' go-to guy for most of their promotions, pretty much first pick of the England team. Meanwhile he had been doing all the Sure promotions and we all know this is a deodorant your girlfriend buys when it's on offer instead of Lynx (and no one is going to buy Nivea).

It's as if he sees us as plucky little Everton who don't get players picked for England and cannot challenge for things. Annoying as this is exactly what we are out to change and he just doesn't seem to want to achieve it with us...or put the work in to get there. Instead of taking criticism on board he has decided he will prove people wrong at a different club where the manager will mould him into a great player rather than through his own work.

Think he has been a bell and is wanting the superstar treatment a la Rom, Alli, Rooney.
If this is true it just shows how little he knows. In the last 10 years there is only one team that have had more players given their England debut whilst playing for them, and that's, coincidentally, Spurs.

If he wanted to mend bridges and come back into the fold I, along with the majority of Evertonian's, would be made up. But the only way he can do this is by signing a new contract with us, and soon. If he doesn't, which I now believe is the far more likely outcome, I really hope he doesn't play for the club again and would support the management should they decide to make an example of him.

I've been a big defender of Ross on here in the past, and I understand all those who say we don't really know what's going on and not to over react. In fact I was of the same opinion until last week. What has changed my mind is the lads use of social media over the last few days. After months of silence he goes on twitter, not to tell us fans what his plans are, but with some nonsensical comment about not having had a medical. And then he allows pictures of him (with a grin on his face ffs) at some tattoo removal clinic to be taken, knowing there would be a good chance this would be published on social media. He must know how the fans would interpret this, and it's as if he is doing it purposely to wind up the club, and by association, the fans.

It's all very sad. Sad for the player as I think he's making a massive mistake as regards his own career. And sad for Everton as one of our own feels the need to move elsewhere to further his career and we it looks like we could very well end up losing him for nothing, and therefore our years of investment in the lad have come to nothing.

I am not, just saying that something has driven a life long blue from the club and it's not money.

He wants to win trophies and he thinks he stands a better chance doing that with Pochettino and Spurs than with us. He's seen his 2 best mates in the squad drop us for clubs with a better chance to compete and he doesn't want to stick around now they've got off.

The only people driving Ross away from this club are Ross and his representatives who've told him he can do better elsewhere.

Yes, it is not money. It is his egoistic aproach and his inability to adapt to more demanding situations. He has showed that he is not able to adapt to a more demanding manager in terms of discipline and consistency like Koeman . Top managers are not gonna be like Roberto's "playground" of a dressing room where he could do whatever he liked and be picked in starting XI.

He won't be given anything for granted in any other club he goes ,even spurs, and to be honest everything is hinting that he is set to fail with the attidute he has been displaying. Maybe the guy never had the mental attributes for this. Maybe Moyes was even right not giving him a major chance before Martinez and insisted on loaning him out before eventually giving him only 7 appearences in 12/13 season , because maybe he had seen that the boy doesn't have it. And believe me ,when that was happening, I would have never though that I might be defending Moyes on that topic sometime in the future. :/

To be clear I don't believe that Ross is a bad guy , he has done good for the club and there were times that he displayed some loyalty and dedication to the club and to the people that brought him up.His stats have been more than decent and he has contributed massively to what we have achieved in the past 4 years. However I don't know if he understands that he is erasing all those positives with his current behaviour and that he will be hated even more than Rooney for that.

If he was more of a fighter he would have established himself under Koeman's demanding coaching and he would actually be the star player that he would want to be. That is really sad beacause he actually managed to improve out of Koeman's coaching and yet he's gonna throw all that to the bin.

If the situation isn't like that and he is actually the one that got f'ed by the club, he should actually take an honest chance to explain it in a public statement if he still loves the people that supported him in these years. The lack of this public explanation points to the exact opposite and translates to Barkley giving us the middle finger.

I hope Everton youngsters might sometime learn respect from real servants of the club's recent history , Baines and Coleman and not from someone that wants to throw everything he had here in the bin . Kids just don't be arrogant to us ! Screw us over and you will be hearing the Goodison roar everytime you go to your bed , and maybe you'll wet it eventually.

John Stones looks like he is fast becoming the next Rodwell cautionary tale.
